Tuesday, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach, Mike Tomlin took to the media again for his weekly press conference to address the loss against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, the injury bug update with the team, and the upcoming battle against the division rival, Cincinnati Bengals.

Tomlin opened his presser with a “quick summary” of Week 2 expressing that the Raiders made more critical plays in critical situations.

As far as injuries, Tomlin noted that a new injury to starting quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger should be something to monitor as he’s been diagnosed with a left pectoral injury. Cornerback Joe Haden and linebacker Devin Bush are currently “working their way back” to full health.

Wide Receiver Diontae Johnson was hurt on the last play of the game on Sunday and is “looking better” according to Tomlin, but “not to be confused with ‘great’.”

Regarding the Bengals, Tomlin highlighted how impressed he was with the Cincinnati defense, especially their defensive front. He made note of how special he thought safeties Jessie Bates III and Vonn Bell are as well. On the offensive side of the ball, he highlighted running back, Joe Mixon who is second in rushing in the NFL currently, and how important he and the rushing attack will be. Of course, Tomlin also couldn’t go on without mentioning cornerback, Mike Hilton who will be playing against his former team.

Questions were also asked about playing time in regards to fullback Derek Watt, wide receiver James Washington, and tight end Pat Freiermuth, and if their roles are intended to be increased. Tomlin expressed that their playing time doesn’t always have anything to do with their individual abilities, but just the circumstance of the game sometimes.
