Steelers Involved In Massive Bidding War For Pick #32

Steelers and Ari are not taking a QB. Maybe Detroit? Colts already got a QB. LA may take a QB due to Staffords health. Seahawks gave geno a big deal, Raiders have Jimmy G, and the panthers took young. If a team really wanted a QB they could safely trade with Pitt or Ari which probably lowers the value. Realistically i see only Detroit and LA in play for a QB.

I was referring to the first few teams. My point was why would a team trade way up to the Steelers when they would have multiple teams they could potentially deal with w/o worrying about losing the QB. The Rams could definitely take a QB, but teams cutoffs still negotiate with Ari as well as Pitt. If someone wants other players then that would be a different story.

To guarantee another team doesn't trade up in front of you.

32 is still essentially a first round pick. If they trade back with someone maybe they can use that haul to trade back up like AZ did yesterday. We're in a good position.

No. It doesn’t matter that neither the Steelers or Ariz are taking a QB. Unless a team has the #32 pick, another team can still leapfrog them. It doesn’t do them any good to trade with Ariz if another team trades with the Steelers. There’s intrinsic value in the #32 pick.

Omar and Andy are in the drivers seat. They are holding all the cards. Please don't let Tomlin overrule these guys and draft Peezy's kid at 32. If they can swap with another team's second a few spots and pick up their third and fourth or two thirds, hell yes!
Can you imagine having two seconds and three thirds?Holy ****! We could improve drastically with those premium picks. Hang tight boys! Take a great offer we can't refuse.

Hold Fast!

Do not trade that pick...Right now we control the board & can take WHOEVER WE WANT....

2 picks out of the next 18....

:herewego:

Draft picks are lottery tickets.
But the lottery tickets in round 1 tend to hit more often then the lottery tickets in round 2.
And lottery tickets in round 2 tend to hit more often then those in round 3.
Etc. Etc.
We are not in a complete rebuild, ala Texans/Falcons/Colts/Bears.
We're also not one stud player away, either.
But we are much closer to the latter than the former.
It is in our best interest to stay put and take BPA. Starting caliber type players at positions of weakness.
If we stand pat, we can take 2 of the next best 17 players.

Now, I'm not opposed to trading #32.
BUT, the haul has to be picks in rounds 2 and 3.
With the exception of AB, our last 2 decades or so of drafting history shows us we're much more adept at picking quality players in rounds 1-3 than 4-7.
Also, typically, these are the better quality players just by odds and scouting.

If we trade #32 for a their 2 and then an additional 2 and an additional 3? I'm intrigued.
If we trade #32 for 10 additional 7s, than I'm crying in my terrible towels and shaking my fists in the air.

Some good ideas here in this thread but if you really want to know what the approach should be we simply need to ask cooch.

And then do the opposite.

What about future picks? If someone offered a first for next year and their second this year?

I always considered Branch a first round pick. Obviously I was wrong as 31 teams passed on him. I would love Branch on our team. We could still get two players that can impact our team in huge ways for the future. Getting Tippmann or John Micheal Schmitz at pick 49 would also hugely improve our team in the future.

While many say Seattle would not come into play because of Gino’s new contract,I disagree. They have an out after a year and Carroll has told him that they might draft a QB in this draft. A. Clear understanding. Levis needs a full year of development as a second or third QB on your team. Seattle also has a ton of picks including 2-2nd rounders left and they love the trading game. They are also close to us.....we will still get a top pick if we switch 2nd rounders.

Whatever the Steelers do it will be interesting. The excitement factor is high in Steeler Nation!
3 hours to go

It depends on the haul, and how far back. They handled the first round great, and they've filled a lot of holes this off season. I'm good letting it play out.
Yes Fab.....the FA signings sure took the desperation of some positions away from this draft. The FO and Coaches really deserve credit so far for the offseason moves. It’s really put us in a good position before the draft started.

I read the Rams want to move up and snag Levis before the Titans do. If the Steelers play this right they could backfill those 5th/6th round picks, move down only 4 spot’s and perhaps get a 2024 day two pick.

We moved 3 spots in the middle of the 1st round and gave up a 4th rounder to do so

not sure why anyone would sell the farm to move to the top of the second round for anyone that remains on the draft board

I could see getting a decent offer if it is say like a 10 spot or more move by someone that has a lot of draft capital to play with .... but I sure hope we don't consider moving that far

rather have a very small move if any and still be able to land Branch as a first option
