As the Steelers look to head into the upcoming season, the final moves are being put into place with the roster. In this case, three new players have been added to the practice squad.

One of the players who was added to the practice squad was on the initial 53-man roster but was released last Friday. Defensive-end Henry Mondeaux was released September 3, after the team traded for for Seattle Seahawks cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon.

As for the 25-year-old Mondeaux, he has seen action with the team before, first against the Tennessee Titans in 2020, where he played a total of 24 snaps throughout the game. He played in a total of 11 games that season with 112 snaps total. As for his future with the Steelers, he will have to prove himself to be one of the better pass-rushers on the practice squad because it will be difficult to find a spot on the star-studded roster that is the Steelers defensive line.

Another newly-minted practice squad member is wide receiver Tyler Vaughns. Originally signing with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free-agent in 2021, the former USC wideout played in three preseason games for the Colts. Playing in 51 snaps on offense, Vaughns totaled 58 yards on six receptions as the Colts went undefeated during that span. Like with Mondeaux, Vaughns will have a difficult time trying to make the starting roster with such a depth of talent at the wide receiver position.

The third and final player added to the practice squad was 2020 undrafted free agent Delantae Scott. Originally a member of the Green Bay Packers, the linebacker appeared in three preseason games playing a total of 103 snaps. In those three games, the former SMU star tallied one sack, two quarterback hurries, and eight tackles. As for this team’s depth chart at linebacker, there is definitely room to have another player with Scott’s unique frame and agility.

With the season coming up soon, who do you see as a valuable free agent that could either be put on the practice squad or on the final roster? Do any of these players have a shot at making it onto the roster and seeing playing time? Leave your comment below!

Informative article Zach and thanks.

Mondeaux is probably the onlu one who could see game action this year and that's doubtful.

As for free agent pick ups............ I think we still need a starter capeable OT. The level of quality will depend on how much money we have left after TJ WATT deal. Could also be FO (frint office) thinks we're set on roster.

Scott is an intriguing guy. Long arms, big hands, lots of production in college, some very good tape actually. But did not test well speed wise. Could end up being something more than PS but probably not this year unless injury happens.
