New Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada has a tall task standing in front of him for the upcoming 2021 season. His job will be finding a way of elevating this talented offense to the next level, with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger at the helm. This offensive unit that he now takes over from previous coordinator Randy Fichtner, is swimming with offensive talent at the playmaking positions, and while it may lack a solidified offensive line group at the moment, this group has too much talent to not be in a good position to find success early on.

One of the main goals for the Steelers this season is learning how to become more of a balanced attack, not relying so much on the pure ability of their future Hall of Fame quarterback to just simply “make things happen”. In doing so, the team drafted running back Najee Harris with their first overall pick in hopes of being this team’s new “bell cow” for many years to come. Harris is now paired with the likes of JuJu Smith-Schuster, Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool as this offense’s main weapons heading into the new year, and it is now Canada’s turn to showcase the game plan that will account for the success of this unit.

“Our ability to run the ball when we have to run it and throw the ball when we want to throw it is what takes great offenses where they want to be. If we’re going to run the football, which is something we definitely want to focus on, if you’re only going to run out of certain looks then they know that. So you have to have play action and pass off of that in our opinion, to be somebody that is hard to defend.” – Matt Canada

He continued. “It’s what the defense allows you to do, what the defensive matchup presents for you. We just want to be good enough in all facets that whatever they are trying to stop, we can do the other one.”

What is left to be seen is just how this offense is going to look under the first year NFL coordinator. Obviously, having Roethlisberger behind center takes some of the initial pressure off of the young OC. That being said, there are a lot of expectations for this offensive group this upcoming season from not only the NFL media, but to Steeler Nation themselves. Our “lackluster” offensive game planning the past couple of years has been something that has hindered this team’s success as of late, and hearing comments like this come from Canada himself only adds to the excitement level of just how good this offense can be. Now we just have to wait and see exactly what they are capable of this Sunday as we take on the Buffalo Bills.

"good enough in all facets that whatever they are trying to stop, we can do the other one"

F. Just F-it all. FFS. even when the "other one" is quite literally the thing your guys SUCK at? cause that's what opposing defensive coordinators love to do to you.

WTF are you calling then? the suckerific plays? Pitch to Najee to the boundary off Dan Moore's side? The Derek Watt swing pass into the flat? How about the stretch hand-off outside the TE on Ebron's side?

i mean seriously... one offensive unit cannot do it all. And i dont know if Canada understands that ****.
