The Pittsburgh Steelers made a strong push to acquire San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk during the 2024 offseason. On multiple occasions, fans and even the Steelers reportedly believed a deal was in place to bring Aiyuk to Pittsburgh. However, the trade never materialized, and Aiyuk ultimately re-signed with the 49ers, remaining with the team that drafted him. It was a annoying saga for Steelers fans but they did feel as if they missed out.
