The selection was widely praised, with analysts calling it a steal due to Fautanu’s immense talent and potential to anchor the Steelers’ offensive line for years to come. Despite his first-round pedigree, concerns over his medical history caused him to slide further than expected. Those fears materialized early in the preseason when Fautanu suffered an injury, and his subsequent return to practice was cut short by another setback. An MRI confirmed the worst: Fautanu would miss the entire 2024 season.
