Now that the stupid players on offense and defense are either on IR, or at the bottom of the depth chart ( Davis and Moncfief ), things should get better. If only the head coach will follow.... The loss to Seattle can be pinned on Moncrief playing volleyball, leading to the interception AND Sean Davis was called for an illegal block that negated a 34-yard touchdown return on Mark Barron’s fumble recovery. Yes--sometimes one or two boneheaded players can make the difference between a win or loss. We should be 1-1.
Not only are sub-par the mistake-prone players OUT/ Limited on snap counts, better players are taking their roles. Fitzpatrick is far superior to Davis, and Washington with Ruloph at quarterback has shown to much better Wide Receiver.
I think the team will rally around Rudolph who flashed good poise and leadership in addition to accuracy and moxie in his regular-season debut. Randy Fichtner if he's smart should incorporate more play-action, something Rudolph does a good job of selling. Use McDoanld and the backs a bit more in the passing game as San Fran will pay most of its attention to Ju-Ju and stop throwing to WR's that can't catch. I think Rudolph will play pretty well if the Steelers can run the ball well on 1st or 2nd down.
Defensively suddenly we have 3 solid starters among the DB's, all of whom were not drafted. Nelson showed me something last Sunday.
Prediction:
Steelers 25
49ers 20
