i haven't kept up with the cap and all cap hits some guys have, like Woodleys dead money, Mitchell's hits, etc.
I don't know if Mitchell will be better after an entire off season here, but everyone is bitching about Troy, Mitchell was horrible all year, i think he made one play vs Houston, but that looks like a bad signing.
Next Gilbert, IMO another bad signing, he was ok here and there, but there are a few times in every game that he just get his *** run over and just ran around like he's not there. I think they need a RT.
We need PASS RUSHERS bad, yeah the secondary needs help, but if we can't get to the QB it wont matter who is at CB, we used a first rounder in 2013 on an OLB and paid worilds 9 million this year and neither are starting material, don't know how to fix that, Harrison will be 38, Moats is avg at best, but not much of a pass rusher. Heyward is the only guy that gets near the qb consistantly.
we still need CB's, i like what Blake and McCain did atleast they made a few plays and were in the vicinity of the wr.

Offense, we need Bryant to learn a few routes and become a legit #2, which I think he will do, there was no consistant #2 option.

One good corner
One good pass rusher would go a long ways in making this team better

and one new final decision maker

Steelers need OLB's then CB or Safety.

Without an impact OLB or two this 3-4 Defense doesn't work...then we all hear the idiots....LeBeau must go.

NO WE NEED SOLID OLB's! That will take care of the pass rush!

I agree, and I think it might be time to actually go find one in free agency, instead of hoping and waiting for a draft pick to come around.

yeah like the KC pass rusher

Someone should answer for the lack of bringing a RB in after Blount got canned. So many fans saw the writing on the wall with that decision...............

not only did they not bring another RB in, they didn't even give harris any touches to try to get him ready.

Also I keep reading some saying we should move Shazier to OLB, again another project that probably doesn't work or will take time. Ben is getting up there we are running out of time, if Bryant steps up to be a legit #2 this offense can get better, but we can't wait for the defense.

If the team isn't getting a good OLB on FA then they better change to the 4-3 and get pressure from the front 4. Harrison will probably retire, worilds I hope they let him go, Jarvis Jones isn't that good, the team needs a real disrupter opposite him or just give up on the 3-4.
No matter who plays in the secondary, without a pass rush they'll be toast most of the game. I think gay, McCain and Blake did a decent job but there wasn't much help upfront. Cortez Allen needs to fix his head, he has the tools to be a good CB, he has shown it before.

On offense we need a left tackle, move beachum to LG and have foster as the main backup. Hoping Gilbert can grow a pair and handle the RT spot constantly

What players do they have that are going to pressure from the 4-3? Just don't see a guy on the roster who is going to generate the pressure that we need.

i agree with this somewhat, we definitely don't have a stud pass rusher for a 4-3, but we don't have any for our 3-4 either. I think McClendon would be a better DT than he his a NT, put him along side McCullers a DT with Heyward at one DE and hopefully find a pass rusher for the other DE position, Timmons and Shazier may fit a 4-3 better than they do a 3-4.

The Steelers have two very good young prospects with Heyward and Tuitt. I agree that Timmons and Shazier would probably fit better in the 4-3, but I just don't see that being a full proof answer. They need playmakers on defense and don't have any right now.

Heyward , mclendon, free agent/rookie, tuitt. And Mccullers as backup at DT.

Wow, they only have 23 players under contract after the 2015 season. and would be close to 60 million under the salary cap.

I agree lack of pass rusher is killing them, but this could go with the Tomlin/colbert thread, we have drafted two first round LB's (timmons-shazier) that probably fit a 4-3 better.

If you wipe Ike, Jason, and Polamalu off the books. The team could afford a OLBer and a CB in free agency.

They have the means if they want to be aggressive for a change.........

They don't need to be aggressive, they need to be smart.

What's funny, is the money they gave Mitchell, Gilbert, and Allen. would have got Revis in here.

They don't need to be aggressive, they need to be smart.

don't the two go hand in hand?

Elvis was brought in to pair with Suggs a smart and aggressive move.
Revis was brought in to replace Talib a smart and aggressive move.
Denver made plenty of aggressive smart moves.

Meaning targeting above average talent and bringing them in. That is what I mean by aggressive.......

Players mentioned had a history of playing above average football.

Steelers brought in a **** load of free agents that couldn't make that same claim. They were teams scrubs, and became the Steelers scrubs.............

Not at all. The Steelers were aggressive in signing Mike Mitchell to the deal he signed. It wasn't smart. They were aggressive re-signing Gilbert and Allen as well. Smart? Not sure about that.
