PFF ranked Frazier the 3rd best center heading into the season after his strong rookie year, through two weeks he’s one of the worst rated by them at 62.5. Fautanu 51.5, Mason McCormick 60.9, Roman Wilson can’t get a target (though technically not a regression), Peyton Wilson is awful after a promising rookie year.

The year before, JP Jr., Benton, and Jones all regressed.

The year before, Pickett turned into a pumpkin.

Going back father, Claypool and Dotson from 2020, Diontae and Bush from 2019, and on and on.

Seems the more young players are exposed to this JV staff, the worse they get. The Steelers have a coaching crisis and there is no solution in sight as long as Tomlin has full control.

I take the time and ponder on what insider people have to say about the coaching and results of this coaching staff.

Andy Weidl: Sees the results, knows the deficiencies as he himself is a football man. Probably barked back in his early days and was **** down by higher management, thus he is silenced outside of his parameters of duty.

Arthur Smith: Knows he is handcuffed, he started out with a pro-offensive plan, but was influenced and told we we have to operate within this system (Tomlin’s conservative scheme). Your freedom comes as long as you stay in tune of this schematic plan.

Austin: Doesn’t matter if he had freedom or not, he is a loser in any scheme. Bottom of the barrel DC. Add in the Tomlinized defensive plans, it’s a gauranteed no-win situation and we’ve seen this evidence from day one.

Pat Meyer: Proof is on the return of poor OL play…… continuously. His OL’s are continuously rated in lower 1/3 of the NFL. When was the last super star OL-man on our team. The gaurd from Philadelphia has regresses from day one and is sliding down hill now. Scheme combined with this coach, is a loss cause.

Bubbles Smith: Has been sub-par other than two players (BOZ / Punter), ST units have been ill-prepared for many seasons. ST’s coaching is the easiest to replace, change is easy for players to obsorb. It’s when a STs coach is kept to long that the STs unit becomes pessimistic and harder to obsorb the clatter of the coach. Add in the extra roster spots dedicated to Bubble’s “Aces” and the on field undisciplined play.

Aaa-Ron: Already knows, deep down what he is up against. He is a ticking time bomb of releasing his view. He will be kind (what we are seeing now), but as this season unfolds………. He will start testing under the bus tires.

Coach Tomlin: He is a very smart man, just not an overall smart coach. His demeanor of not being able to work with smarter people, is his drawback. Anyone here, if in his position would realize what they are doing isn’t working. Is it arrogance or just not knowing how to be the leader needed. Is he to busy being a “friend” coach or just not equipped to see reality on the field of play. Blaming everyone but himself doesn’t work. He will include himself in saying “we need to do better” but there is ZERO personal growth for that statement.

Art Rooney II: I’d bet many owners talk behind his back. They also realize that what he is doing by keeping Coach Tomlin is to their advantage as it takes a former “Power-House” out of the equasion of anything relevant. They are also jealous in the fact that Rooney is capitalizing on”beyond the means” of the NFL. Money speaks volumes as to what one will endure, regardless of legacy. Rooney is more into the money part of the team and less into the Football part of the team, similar to his grandpa. time does not sit still, the fans obtained by the history / winning / tradition of this team are starting to fall away. It will take that kind of fallout for the current Rooney to wake up, which might be by stepping down.

There are many many other examples / reasoning / excerpts as to where this STEELERS team is at / headed. The more the loyal the fan, the longer they will stick around, but a winning disposition has never seen fleeing fans. That is what this team has is a never losing season (winning), but the post season is usually pre-determined and carried by it’s past. That statement is the cruix of the long term embodiment of no change.

Salute the nation

I really don’t know why anyone gives PFF any credibility in the first place.

They considered Garrett better than Watt two years ago for Defensive Player of the Year, when Watt had better stats in every category except “almost making the play”

They also gave Rodgers a very low rating in week 1 when he threw 4 touchdowns without an Interception.

There have been many other examples, so why even give them credibility?

This team will really go nowhere until there is a new Head Coach, and that is all that matters.

If you ever listen to them explain their grading it makes sense. Aaron’s first game had a lot of great stuff schemed up for easy TDs, half his passes were at or behind the LOS.

TJ’s 19 sacks in 2023 represented 2% of his defensive snaps, they grade every play. They also had him graded as elite last year even though the sacks dried up late, because again, they watch every play on All-22 multiple times with multiple analysts.

Counting stats and box scores are for fantasy football, not serious player evaluation.

In any other business persistent mismanagement of resources over time would result in removal or a performance plan or metrics-based corrective action.

Instead we have a SCOTUS appt at HC.
