There were issues here but Canada called his best game of the season. Refs hindered things here and there and Canada because he is Canada did the same. But, to be clear, this was his best called game of the season.

The bad/ugly/atrocious, anything involving our coaching staff otherwise and in general. Canada is still here but WAY lower on the list. Tomlin and Austin are both terrible. You could ignore ALL other reasons and keeping wallace as a starter and our zone D is reason enough.

This team needs a coaching change from top to bottom.

The team has too many good players to be this sloppy for the duration of the game. It's why they can keep games close and pull them out in the fourth quarter. This style of football doesn't do anything other than get the Steelers to the middle of the league and maybe one of the final Wild Card spots.

Why does Canada seem so predictable, would be nice just one play having Washington sneak out and throw to him. Just once. No defense would ever expect this from Canada.

I honestly, no sarcasm implied, just CANNOT believe a professional team with our history can be ok with such utterly bush league playcalling and play designs. It’s embarrassing. Yes we won today. I’m happy. But it’s so tough to watch. And as many big plays as this D makes they are severely lacking in the coaching department as well.

Yes. It reminds me of the 2009 Penguins… Therrien played so ******* conservative with them that when they fired him and hired a mental gimp in Dan Bylsma, they surged to a cup because he cut the tethers that were holding the offense back…

Funny part. At times he gets it. Examples:
Crosser to DJ on crack back by Pickens. That should be three times a game at least.
Seam to Pickens.
Dink to Heyward on PA to Harris near goal line.
Just too few. And I don't know why but going back to Ben......completely clueless in first half.

My high level non specific thought

This blocking is abysmal

It’s one thing to suck at pass blocking, which they do…listening to the freak in the bar scream “run Kenny” approximately 1-2 seconds after every other snap is a bit telling

It’s another thing to suck at run blocking, which they also have down in spades
That any back averages over 3 ypc when greeted by 2-3 defenders in the backfield 50% of the time shows some real guts

The “scheme” also very sus

Was hoping maybe one day coaching could align a scheme/plan to players with a skill set to execute it…I know, crazy

Bring back Munch, whatever it takes. Nice shiny title Asst HC/OL coach/run game coordinator and back up the truck and let’s get this done

Like the idea, but Munch isn’t coming back. I highly doubt we can get High profile, great type coordinators to come here and work under Coach Tomlin. Words out, careers don’t advance from here.

It was his best called QUARTER of the season. Lets not forget, Canada's offense produced a whopping 108 yards of offense through three quarters.

For context, Patrick Mahomes threw for 320 in the first HALF.

Yep a small sample compared to his overall failings, in addition to his three quarters of not good enough. I will say he was helped out by O-line inconsistency and WR bone head moments. Regardless Canada should glue in and see what is working for him and why it worked and why the fails failed.

I don't think this guy is capable of being a good OC, but he is capable of putting out a better version of his ineptitude.

Unfortunately a true scenario likely

Shades could be a good coach with some help, we’ve seen it before
Being surrounded by a JV staff isn’t helping, he’s also proven that

To me the most telling thing it's it's played out same for 2 and a 1/3 years with 3 Qs. Every week with Ben nothing till just before half. Then better. Adjustment is good but clearly there are scheme issues with the start

Just because we won the game and O’Canada called a couple good drives in the 4th, doesn’t give him an extension or cooler version of the hot seat. HIS seat is still near RED HOT POKER hot., in my book.

Alas———— I realize he isn’t going anywheres unless Coach Tomlin dreams it. That goes for Austin as well.

FWIW, the Steelers in this game, in this 4thQ, did very well and performed at a very high level. That was great to watch.

We can only hope that the coaches carry this back to lab, turn over some stones, and identify the work done.
The standard is the standard.
Obviously.
Popcorn

Tomlin will retreat into his turtle shell.

Rams left 7 points off the board with 3 missed kicks. Steelers benefitted with a bad spot in their favor on the 4th down play to ice the game.

All in all, it was a comeback win on the road against an opponent who was favored to win. Not an easy game to win under any circumstances.

But I'm not under any illusions... We have one all-world player in Watt, an emerging pro bowl level WR in Pickens, albeit very immature at this point.....and a high quality safety in Fitz..... This team is several players away from contention. Add to that a pair of coordinators that are likely laughed at around the league.

At best, we are a wild card loss to close out the season.
