“Pope Francis has urged us to have fewer children to make the world more sustainable,” a panelist at a Vatican-run workshop on “how to save the natural world” stated on Thursday.

This solution to securing the world’s sustainability was presented by botanist and environmentalist Peter Raven during a press conference that concluded the “Biological Extinction” workshop that took place at the Vatican earlier this week.

This douchebag Marxist is either a useful idiot of Malthusian bullshit or fully on board using it as a pretense for socialism.

“In the framework of social justice worldwide we need to find ways for natural resources to be distributed on the basis of compassion and love. We hope for support in our ongoing support for our endeavor to develop sustainability,” he said.

All four on the panel concurred that the survival of the planet is tightly linked to the number of people on the planet.

The Biological Extinction workshop drew particular controversy because it featured a paper by notorious pro-abortion population control advocate Dr. Paul Ehrlich. At the event Ehrlich, and co-author Dasgupta, said that the Catholic teaching of “responsible parenthood” in determining family size has “result[ed] in collective failure” in reducing the world’s population. The authors suggested that one way to stop the exhaustion of “humanity’s natural capital” is by imposing a system of “taxes and regulations” that would help modify “social norms of behaviour.”

Fu-huck him. Infallible my ***.

He gets more and more outrageous all of the time. It's become somewhat macabre to me to watch him spiral in to this affront to Catholicism. I have never understood or embraced the religion but Pope John Paul was a very humble, quiet and respectful man. I thought a lot of him. This man though seems nothing at all like the kind hearted person that Pope John Paul was.

The Pope is a South American Communist. It's all he's been around and it's all he knows. Redistribute wealth.

Yes, of course, potential overpopulation is due to CATHOLICS, AND NOT THE BILLIONS AND BILLIONS IN CHINA, INDIA AND MUSLIM COUNTRIES.

Maybe he should tell the Muslims to stop *******.

I'm not thrilled with the Pope either, but can you point to a direct quote from the Pope in that article? A bunch of gobbledy gook directed towards him but nothing he actually said that I can see.

I think its reasonable for the Church to assess whether its position against any and all forms of birth control beyond natural family planning is either reasonable or moral.

The Pope's word is gospel. So to speak.

Good point. No direct quote. I hate the guy. Attribute this to rabid bullshit on my part.

First of all you have to remember that Bergoglio is not the pope. He cannot be the pope so long as Ratzinger still lives. Then you have to remember as Ron points out Bergoglio is a South American communist. As such he wants to see the end of western republics. So he doesn't care that the European population is now below replacement birth rate. The fake pope is just fine with the current western dynamic of your grandma had six kids, your mother had four kids, and you have two abortions and a dog.

I was raised Catholic, but I don't identify with any denomination now. The whole hide a pedophile thing they were guilty of is only part of it. They are a very hypocritical bunch, as are most religions. Do as I say, not as I do.....Give me your money...

This pope is a dope. He is very much a commie. I knew there was issues with him when my sister liked him. And she is a flaming liberal atheist.

I lapsed until my first kid was born, then we checked out a number of different churches. Lutheran was like - grab a coffee, sing a little, listen to the pastor, and you're outta there. Methodist and Anglican services are similar to Catholic services. Basically everything other than Catholic services feel unsubstantial when you are raised Catholic. Like I always say, when the spiritual **** hits the fan - need an exorcism, demon apocalypse, whatever - you call a Catholic Priest. There is a reason.

I am at a spiritual cross roads in my life. I do not know what to believe. I don't know if there is a god or not. These days, I tend to lean toward not.

So the Catholic Church has a huge pedophilia scandal, but what makes you lose your mind is the Pope encouraging people to have less kids?

I am not very religious, but am open minded about there being a higher power in the world.
I do think the world is way over populated. How many millions of starving kids are around the world and how many billions of dollars are spent trying to help. Even in the USA how many people just pop out 4,5,6 kids with no way to even remotely support them...Of course it is just not christians it is all religions / cultures. I have no problem asking people to have less kids especially if the family can't take care of them.

I'm Lutheran. We're kinda like Catholic Lite and we do have excellent coffee.

I have been at a religious crossroads for 25 years Sarge so I understand lol. For a good part of my childhood, I was raised in church....I'm talking two or three times a week. When the "church going bug" hit my parents, it hit them hard for about a year. Then we wouldn't attend for a couple months. Then the cycle repeated....up until I was about 13 or 14, then they fell away from their church. By the time they settled into a new church and the cycle started again, I was on my way to college. They went to that church at least twice a week until my Dad died.

Myself, I never had the desire to regularly attend church. I think I have always associated it with holy rolling people who aren't very nice or good people on Monday through Saturday, but when Sunday comes they project perfection. That hypocrisy, I think, is one of the things that has always kept me away. My Mom harped on me for years that I need to go back to church and my answer was always, "Why? I don't need to go to church to treat others kindly and to be a good person. I can to do that on my own because I want to and it's the right way to act." She finally gave up when I hit about 30 but from time to time still throws a jab in there. The one that I won't ever get over was at my Dad's funeral. After years of harping on me o go back to church and not getting the desired effect, she conspired behind my back to have her holy roller friends at her church lay hands on me during the funeral service. They prayed that I would dedicate my life to Jesus and go to church. I was FURIOUS. To use my father's funeral as a means to corner me and "get me" pissed me off beyond belief. I told my Mom that if she ever had a chance to get me back to church, that ended it. I think that was when she gave up. And it was a good thing because our relationship would have continued going downhill if she wouldn't have.

The other thing that chased me away form church is thinking back to when I was 5 and 6 years old and hearing about the signs of the apocalypse constantly. I remember my Mom talking to me about and me looking out the window in terror....looking for signs of the sky to turning black and rolling up like a scroll, looking for fire to rain down from the sky.....as a 6 year old. I can't ******* imagine telling my kids **** like that. I firmly believe that hearing that garbage when I was so young has had a huge impact on why I am such a neurotic, nervous adult. I would never do that to my kids. I spent years of my childhood being a nervous wreck that the apocalypse was about to happen at any second. I could never understand how she could be so happy about it or look forward to it. It seemed nuts...even to a Kindergartner.

My Mom and I have had some wrangles over my kids not going to church. I have allowed her to take them a handful of times to a church in our town, but I know the pastor and he is a pretty down to earth guy so I have allowed it. i see him around own and we talk Pirates baseball and his wife is very nice as well. I do question them on what they learned about and for the most part it seems kid appropriate. They seem to keep the kids services separate from the adult stuff that I don't think they need to hear. As for myself, my desire to attend personally hasn't changed since I was 18 or so. Being 40 now, I don't imagine it probably will. I think there is a possibility that God exists. If he does and he is a righteous God as all teachings say, then I feel that how I treat other people and how I live my life should be much more important than following prescribed rituals and rules. At least from my perspective that seems much more important.

I was raised a Mormon jn Mesa AZ They are a very kind, polite, giving and a little bit crazy people. I respect and honor the opportunity that the Mormon religion opened up for my family. From my grandfather learning English from the Book of Mormon, which saved his life on the Russian front, to the sponsor who gave them the chance to immigrate to the US, the Mormon religion is the reason I am here. I cant deny that even though I am not a practicing Mormon.

I completely believe in God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost though. I seek God's wisdom through prayer. I am usually either soothed, feel direction, etc as a result of fervent prayer. I am mostly pretty private about it. My eighteen year old had a couple of friends over and they were in the kitchen getting snacks. I overheard one of them use God's name in vane. I said something along the line of "Um...please don't say that." My daughter says "You can drop as many F bombs as you want around my mom but don't say gd. " one friend looked confused and I said "Or Jesus Christ' name either because He is our Lord and savior." And I left it at that. It makes me wince to hear those phrases thrown about by people. Most people wouldn't think that I'm religious because I don't wear it on my sleeve but deep down I feel very spiritual.
