Perusing the net, I stumbled across this fairly interesting article posted on Cleveland.com… which, for those who don’t know, is the online side of the Cleveland plain dealer… Cleveland’s preeminent newspaper..

Bear in mind that the Steelers were a non playoff team last year… one would think the Vitriolic obsession they have for us would be better served for Cincinnati… their cross state rivals and frontrunners for the division… a team that was founded by their own co founder after being jettisoned from Cleveland… or better yet Baltimore… you know that city that STOLE their team…

Nope… its all Steelers obsession all the time up there…

From their articles to their championship proud fans. They love them some delusion. Either they hark on something before they were born, or their brief playoff success, or their Myles infatuation in comparing him to TJ. They are out battling Philly for the worst fans in the NFL. **** that factory of sadness.

How could anything from Cleveland be dubbed "preeminent"?

We own this ****** division. We just happen to loan it out once in while.
The fun's over Cincy.

The Bengals are about to make Joe Exotic the highest paid player ever… their success has already started to cost them players and their DCoordinator, who was the catalyst behind their turnaround, is probably gone after this season…

The Ravens put all their eggs that a running QB is going to hold up and Cleveland has to hope Watson has a dramatically improved season or else they can’t justify mitigating cap hell by extending him out…

Lets put it this way… Highsmith was the only significant UFA the Steelers had next year… there are probably about 12-14 guys who will make this roster that will be ufas, but the only potential starters are at NT and CB and we obviously already drafted replacements. 5-7 draft picks will be added next year… almost every backup spot that will need to be signed is a cheap target, like #3 QB, or Special teams DB..

without carryover the Steelers are projected to be about 6 million over next year’s cap …thats very easily manageable with the roster set up

On the flip side, the bengals have almost 50 million in cap space, but have six expensive ufa plus several extensions for guys like Burrows and Chase due.

The ravens have a little cap space but 5 significant players to sign along with a bunch of bit guys…

The Browns only have two significant players to sign but are comically 83 million dollars over the cap

Cincinnati will feel the HIGH cost of doing business,

Business is BoomiN…………….

People go to those websites that calculate cap space and just do a search and see who has the most or least and think that tells the whole story… it doesn’t

First of all, until a season starts they only look at the top 51 salaries so everyone will be adding another 1.5 million in cap hits at season’s start..
secondly they are just showing pure cap hit.. not adjusted ( though some do try to factor in average draft pick costs before they are signed) ..

The correct equation to get a real future cap image is

Actual Salary + All prorated signing bonus hits + other bonuses like workout or roster+ cost to fill out roster + cost to resign UFAs + cost to sign draft picks - cap Rollover…
