After some thought of what the Steelers biggest problems are, it dawned on me, perhaps its not Mike Tomlin!

1 ) Arthur Joseph Rooney II. Yes, you read that correctly. He's the one man who has the authority to fire Mike Tomlin. If he doesn't act soon, he's the Steelers biggest problem. For years I used to take pride in the Rooney's ( When Art sr and his son Daniel were in charge ) for being a smart football family. If Art Jr decides to keep Tomlin to hold up their Rooney rule, sadly a stacked and talented team is going nowhere. It is my belief that good ownership is essential for championships, as they hire the General Manager and head coach, who in turn hire the assistants and draft the players. Art, please act.

2 ) Mike Tomlin. His visible mistakes are almost comical. A good coach should give their team every edge to succeed. With Tomlin, he often makes it easier for the other team to succeed.

3 ) ILB's. We need a 3 down variety who can tackle, run and cover. A top need for the draft. I do think we can find such a player in round one or two. The Steelers should pick in the 16-20 spot.

4 ) FS. The guy we have there surrenders way too many yards and makes few plays on the ball.

5 ) A better 2nd cornerback. This will not be easy, but we could fill this hole in free agency. Ramsey for our 1st and 3rd and Bell's cap money? I'd shake hands on that.

6 ) Speed WR. We have none. Imagine if we had one with AB on one side and ju-ju on the other burring the 3rd corner or safety with Bens deep ball throwing skills?

7 ) A new kicker. If Boswell struggles in the pre-season, he's as good as gone. Kickers are like blades of grass these days. Almost all of them are decent. Boswell leads the league in missed kicks.

8 ) New positional coaches at LB, DC, and ST. You could argue this need is higher. Once Tomlin is out of the way, this should prove to be easy.

9 ) A top Run stuffing DT/NT

10 ) An upgrade a punter.

With a lot of cap space the and the draft, the Steelers can quickly fill their holes. Only one domino must fall and its Art that needs to push it.

How do you plan on filling those holes when you want to give away ALL THE MONEY, for Ramsey?

Mt Forged,

Ramsey is perhaps the best cornerback in football. With him and Haden, the Steelers would have two shut down type of corners. This will produce more turnovers, and allow whomever the DC is to play more man and blitz more often with confidence.

Simply use our 2nd round pick on an ILB, and the rest of the draft ( rounds 4-7 ) to fill holes at FS, Speed Wr, and DT.

I believe we have 9.3 million until 2018. In 2019, we get the Bell money ( +14.5Million ) and the cap space open in 2020 over 92 million dollars! We can easily buy a key player or two for a super bowl run.

But first Rooney needs to act.

It definitely starts at the top. Since the season is over, I would look at this in regards to next season. I definitely disagree about the S position. We have Reid and Edmunds playing well. Sure, Edmunds has made rookie mistakes but all in all, he and Reid will make a very good tandem back there next year and for years. Burnett might be back and he looked better later in the season. They had him, Edmunds and Reid on the field quite a bit it seems recently. Next year, that third S may be Marcus Allen. We definitely still need a stud ILB and another starting CB. Those two (ILB and CB) are absolutely our biggest needs on the entire team. Burns did not get better as most expected, in fact, he got worse. Haden will still be our No. 1 CB next year. We need a No. 2 CB that can be No. 1 in a year when Haden is probably gone. Somehow, we need someone other than Tomlin and Colbert to pick our CB's in the draft. Their draft selections over their tenure has been horrible to say the least.

I see at least our top 4 or 5 picks being D but you never know with the Steelers. If they see another stud RB or WR or even TE, they may take them. And, with 5 wide working so beautifully, how can you fault them. Plus, our O line needs some guys but we usually do well grabbing serviceable players in later rounds.

Honestly I've given up on talent solving the problem. This team suffered a horrific injury to Shazier but has been otherwise almost completely unscathed. Oline lost one key piece and Connor definatley hurt this year. This is not a talent problem. This is a coaching problem. Comes down to your 1st and 2nd points alone. Only chance to get a SB with Ben. Tomlin must be fired. Period.

#1: We didn't trade Bell like you said we should
#2: We didn't draft who you said we should
#3: We didn't trade for Ramsey
#4: We didn't listen to your game planning
#5: Another look at me post

If I were calling the shots Tomlin would have been not renewed when his last contact expired.

I think your thoughts on Mikey cools shades are similar to mine.

maybe Tomlin should get a haircut like Conner's. You know, make it fun for the guys.

Art should have fired the clown 4 years ago

Art is too dumb to act, hes probably sleeping

The money is still rolling in, why make waves when all the yinzers continue to support the half assed product being fed to them?

This is where I disagree with most, I am not interested in buying the #1 CB, I would much rather have 5-6 top 15-20 players that put out the effort EVERY PLAY.

Elite lever corners in their prime ( Ramsey is just 24 year old ) are very rare. You just can not obtain them unless you happen to have a very high draft pick or get lucky with a later pick. Teams do not let them go in free agency, unless the player demands out.

The difference between Jalen Ramsey and Haden is viable, and the difference between Ramsey and whomever else the Steelers start as the other corner is a country mile.

Teams just do not throw at Ramsey, and when they do he makes them pay.

In the past two years he has 7 interceptions and 28 passes defended. He tackles well too. I don't care if he has a mouth, some of the best DB's do. What I care about his skill set, which is perhaps the best in the NFL at an important position. With our pass rush, his production would be....!!!

correct
Free Agents (as of now) for 2019:

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/

Dante Fowler (LAR)
Landon Collins (NYG)
Terrance Smith (KC)
Robby Anderson (NYJ) put this dude on the field with AB and Juju? wow

though, i'd most like to see us do something that would have a ripple effect.
CJ Mosley

our what?

our what?

4-5 INT's and 16PD's is where I set the high bar. Of if you prefer, this is about what our 4 starting DB's achieved in 2018.

But it goes beyond that on paper. The flexibility in coverage, taking way the other teams best WR's, and blitzing if you have two really good corners is a DC's dream.
