Defense, Austin most certainly should be gone. Hard to say because Coach Tomlin needs a yes man and the next man up doesn’t seem to be a complete yes man.

Brian Flores appears and has pedigree to be promoted to DC, a move that would be in the right direction. (Austin would have to be gone, not retained in any degree)

Offense, O’Canada would seem to be a sure lock of outed. As season progresses I think that becomes less and less a sure lock.

Coach Sullivan would be a clear replacement due to promote from with in. Should this happen don’t expect scheme to change much.

Obviously I think change needs to come from outside the organization on both sides of the ball and if by chance a new HC, then outside the organization as well with the exception of Flores getting a serious interview. Then wait and see who else they bring in for HC position.

BEN is no longer on the team so many here can’t use that excuse of Ben’s fault, to old, can’t move yards yadda. Had BEN Roethlisberger been QBing this season, we would be leading the division or at minimum in the wild card hunt. Obviously O’Canada would have been even more ****-ed up as to sabotage Ben to hold him back, similar to last year.

This Franchise is in dire need of change but I’m afraid the main change needed isn’t happening causing a chain effect of keeping O’Canada and the ONLY thing we will see is a new DC under the same OLD thumb.

Art needs to find his sack, I’m sure it’s hanging low, and fire all these people. Understanding it’s time.

New, fresh team, new FO, let’s get new blood in at coaching.

Come on Art. Find your sack!

I fully agree and think the entire coaching staff needs let go. A complete change out.

With Coach Tomlin gone I think we could actually get some quality candidates and assistants.

I realize it is kind of a crap shoot to the degree needed but we know the crap shoot we are currently in.

Someone said Art II’s son is getting close to taking over, I wonder how true that is and what type of degree is he going to bring?

What I think will happen is
MT stays and will till his contract.
Both the OC and DC are gone. Step in Brian for Def.
MT wrecks and future for Watt, Cam to see a Sb chance.
More talent wasted in 22, 14, and yes I’ll say18.

(I’m done with Mike. Lol)

I think they'll be status quo after the season. If they were going to make big moves, last year would've been the year as Ben retired.

Flores stepping in as DC would've been the perfect outside hire. Recognized as a good defensive mind and had head coaching experience. The Steelers ideally could've hired a proven OC who's good working with young QBs, but I'd also consider an upcoming positional coach under a brilliant offensive-minded coach.

I don't see them canning Austin after one season, particularly with the defense allowing 20 or fewer points in 9 of 14 games so far. The run defense has been improved and while not great, the pass defense lacks a No. 1 cornerback and did not have the pass rush to help out this year.

Canada is saving his job by doing just enough to beat juggernauts like the Saints, Colts, Falcons, and Panthers over the second half of the season.

as the Steelers love stability, I could see them keeping the coordinators. But the bubblegum man has had his chances. could a special teams coach be the scapegoat?

Canaduh absolutely has to go. Even if they do well the last 3 weeks, he must go. And, they need to hire from outside. Sullivan is not the guy.

On D, I don't know what they will do since Tomlin runs it. Austin would be the obvious scapegoat and Flores hasn't appeared to have much impact on our ILB's who he coaches. The players like him but...he also may leave if he gets a head coaching job.

Our special teams coach has to go as well.

My guess is little will happen. I would not be surprised if only our special teams coach is canned.

Somewhere an AXE has to fall, ST would be a start but also a slap in the face.

Shades does not like to hire from outside and he does not like to hire people he doesn’t know. And he REALLY doesn’t like to fire people.
I think Canaduh is gone IF is contract is up. If it’s not then I give it a better than 50/50 chance he’s back.
Defense, best case scenario they give Austin his old job back, he won’t be fired, and make Flores the DC which is what they should have done in the first place.

I think little change will occur but I don't see how they will be able to sell hope next year with Canada. When the final stats come in they will be pathetic. He will be main scapegoat. And deserves to be gone so not sure if that fully applies.

Arts allegiance is with the NFL and not Steelers fans. Every time a black head coach gets fired, it comes under scrutiny. Imagine the “Rooney Rule” Rooney’s firing their black only-had-one-losing-season head coach. Don’t expect a change any time soon.

Yes.

Yup, Tomlin would half to epically lose for years before even being on Arts hot seat.

When Tomlin does leave the media and Jesse Jackson's of the world will put a full court press on for his replacement to be black and Art will probably cave regardless of who is most qualified.

With OC, not sure what would be a worse indictment of Tomlins stubbornness: not firing Canaduh or hiring a subordinate of a fired OC from within for the 2nd straight time...one of these 2 scenarios are highly likely to happen tho...

I would say this is quite accurate. I feel the Deuce is more concerned with being socially conscious then winning. And there are three or four black coaches, Id be happy with including Flores. Its just time to move on. Fresh eyes, fresh message. Its stupid to think you will become the Stains/ Lions. that is an organizational thing. Almost any hired coach with good talent will win to at least the level Tomlin has produced in the last 8 years. People make this sound bigger than it really is.

Team culture changed years ago! This Rooney is the typical bleeding heart woke *** liberal who desires to do everything by todays democratic ideology.
I’m actually ok with the Rooney Rule that specifies that a team must interview a minority candidate. Thats fine and all candidates regardless of race should be considered, but hire the best candidate please.
Rooney is enamored with Tomlin’s intellect and knowledge of football but he overlooks a lot of Tomlin’s shortcomings. Unfortunately there are too many for me to get into here but they’ve been discussed here many times.
I also think Rooney is somewhat afraid of Tomlin or afraid to terminate him fearing a backlash of criticism.
Tomlin makes about 12 million per season and essentially has the most security of any head coach in all of sports. He will only be gone if he decides to move on I’m afraid to say.

I'll tell you what I've seen this season.

We lost Watt for half the year, and he's just now getting back into Watt shape with 3 games left.

We have been rotating between 2 QBs, one hasn't started in the NFL for 2 years, the other never played in the NFL before. That is the biggest storyline for me.

The development of Kenny Pickett, and I'm glad he's gotten better as the year has gone on. Now I want to see him command the offense and gain some confidence in his ability to win games in the 4th quarter.

I don't know what any of us were expecting this year with Trubisky and Kenny running the offense. Sure we were optimistic, but I feel that our record is solidly tied to these 2 QBs.

Great post my friend. Spot on

I agree with everything you said Drink Iron City. I'm also really afraid should the Steelers get to 8 or 9 wins, everything remains the same.

That’s DIC to you good SIR !!!

I totally hear yay on the non-losing season bull-****.

I’ve said that 1st 1/2 season. It was automatic that O’Canada was gone. Now he is slowly playing into I don’t think he is gone. HUGE mistake if they keep him as this O scheme is crap.

10 targets to Johnson and ZERO targets to the top 5 TE in the league. Not even a single target, that’s crap.
