Gov. Greg Gianforte signed a bill banning TikTok in Montana, making it the first state to ban the app in the U.S.

The Republican governor signed legislation into law Wednesday, saying the ban is aimed at protecting citizens from foreign influence since TikTok is owned by Beijing-based ByteDance.

I don't think many people realize many apps can access all of your phones and computers. That's camera,microphone, texts,contacts,messages,calls,browser,location, etc.

TIkTok just happens to be a Communist China app. There's no independence of companies from state control in that country.

They also use it to manipulate users in other countries for them to see what they want you to see.

It's similar to what media companies do here. They censor and mine your data. Most of it is to sell you ****. Your phone is always listening to you and depending on what app you may have could turn the camera on anytime without you knowing it.

We're in definitely some strange days with everyone being in surveillance constantly. The AI that's being developed will really expand that. Which I'm sure the secret AI is already here. Which can be good and very bad in totalitarian hands.

First Amendment rights vs. national security. Didn't freedom-lovers already fight this fight (Patriot Act)? I don't use Tik Tok (it's a bunch of idiots posting idiotic things for other idiots to watch and garner idiotic likes from those same idiots... that's just my opinion). If it were to just go away, I wouldn't care. But the moment you cede more of your 1A rights, the closer we inch towards full-on Statist control.

The thing is, Tic-Tok, like Toyko Rose, Axis Sally, Bagdad Bob and Jane Fonda, is a form of propaganda, used by a foreign entity to mine information and influence, people are just too naive to see it.

It may be no worse than FB, but at least they have some oversight.
