The Pittsburgh Steelers players much like fans can’t stop talking about Ben Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger of course has decided to hang up his cleats and move onto his ‘lifes work‘ as Chuck Noll would say.

This time it was Steelers star TJ Watt that was sharing some Roethlisberger memories. He was asked on Sirius Radio this past weekend what he will miss most about Roethlisberger.

“Oh man, I remember my first 7 on 7 against Ben. And that was kind of the ‘welcome to the NFL’ moment,” Watt said. “Just got lined up in the wrong position. He was like ‘Hey, 90, you’re supposed to be here covering the flat.’ I’m like ‘oh you know what I have?’ And I don’t even know what I have. So just little things I’m going to miss.”

Watt spoke about Roethlisberger following the teams’ emotional win in Baltimore that kept Roethlisberger’s career alive:

The Steelers will now lean on Watt among others to take on the leadership role Roethlisberger once held in Pittsburgh. Cam Heyward is the heart and soul of the team, but Watt will now move into more of a vocal leadership role. Watt isn’t one to do a ton of talking, but he’s vocal on the field and in the locker room. His voice will echo through the team.

“Just so competitive. Every day in practice he [Roethlisberger] was always talking smack,” Watt continued. “He still had some zip on his arm too, and was making some good throws at the end there.”

Roethlisberger’s presence will be greatly missed on the practice squad, and on the battle field.
