Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker TJ Watt participated in the team portion of practice for the first time this off-season. Watt of course has been staying out of team drills while he awaits a new contract.

TJ Watt went through a full practice for the first time this year on Wednesday. He is not doing an interview until Friday, but Kendrick Green noted how hard he played. Joe Schobert said it was great to see him out there.

This likely isn’t an indication of a new contract being completed, but it does mean that Watt will play on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

TJ Watt practiced today. So does that mean he'll play Sunday?

Tomlin: "Like I said yesterday, I'm proceeding with that assumption."

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin was happy with what he saw from Watt today in practice.

“I thought he looked good. He was engaged. He has been full participant in walk-throughs. He’s a smart guy. He can learn from watching others and it’s evident in watching him work today,” Tomlin said after practice.

Josh is now shaking in his Uggs...
The way they handled the Steelers last time I am thinking he isn't too nervous. It is up to the D and ball control offense to make this encounter different.

How about another conspiracy theory: why is Watt waiting until Friday to talk to media??

This is TJ WATT telling the world I'm "that guy". He is showing he is a team guy and not holding out (when it counts).

It also indicates to me that he & team STEELERS are close.

I'm glad for his return but still realize it could still turn sour.

Ben statement helps puts more pressure on art get the deal done I came back no took less so you could upgrade the team and help u lock up key guys

They will handle this situation just like the Dupree situation. No new contract for TJ. He plays under the tag next year.

You mean he isn't holding out while making over $10 million? Wow!! That's inspirational. Maybe they will make a movie about it. Also while they may still come to terms.....we have been hearing the "close" quote for over 2 weeks. He is practicing in my opinion now because the pay checks will start coming in weekly. Nothing more and nothing less.

An interesting concept but that might just be fanspeak/media speak and nothing more.
