This Thursday, Feb. 10, Keegan-Michael Key will host the 11th edition of NFL Honors, which will air live nationally on ABC at 9 p.m. ET from YouTube Theater in Los Angeles. The annual event features the announcement of The Associated Press awards and the newest class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
This event is usually held on Saturday night, but has been moved for the first time to Thursday night. It’s a moment that every Pittsburgh Steelers fan has been waiting for since last year when TJ Watt was snubbed for the Defensive Player of the Year honor. Watt of course was beat out by Los Angeles Rams defensive end Aaron Donald last season, and is still competing against the fellow All-Pro this season.
Let’s show you how the mock vote went –
Participating analysts: Brian Baldinger, Judy Battista, Jeremy Bergman, Ali Bhanpuri, Tom Blair, Gil Brandt, David Carr, Brooke Cersosimo, Jeffri Chadiha, Gennaro Filice, Cynthia Frelund, Chase Goodbread, Marcas Grant, DeAngelo Hall, Dan Hanzus, Maurice Jones-Drew, Steve Mariucci, Willie McGinest, Dan Parr, Kevin Patra, Adam Rank, Chad Reuter, Marc Ross, Marc Sessler, Nick Shook, Matt Smith, Joe Thomas, Kurt Warner, Lance Zierlein.
Watt received 20 out of the possible 29 votes predicting that he will win the award. Others receiving votes were Donald (7), Nick Bosa (1), and Micah Parsons (1).
Watt is coming off a record tying season in which he did most of his damage while playing injured. He hurt his groin right out of the gate and eventually had knee, and rib issues. He missed 2 full games, and 2 halves of others. He might have got 27 sacks had he been able to play the entire season and be healthy. This is Watt’s season. Anytime you tie or break a record it needs to be recongizned. Donald had another super season, and helped his team get to the Super Bowl, but the Steelers couldn’t win without Watt. Thats what sets him apart from Donald.

Why Jeffri Chadiha chose T.J. Watt: Watt tied Michael Strahan’s NFL single-season record for sacks with 22.5, and he actually missed two games. No defender was as disruptive this season as Watt.
