The most concrete answer given came in the last question when Tomlin was asked who he believes will open up as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ starting free safety this spring. His answer? Morgan Burnett.

“I’d imagine it’s going to be Burnett,” Tomlin said. “But we hadn’t decided yet. He’s played a lot of ball. He’s started more than most. But again, it’s not about how we start. Everybody will be given an opportunity to show where they’re capable of contributing. Maybe Morgan ends up at strong safety, Sean Davis at free.”

I see @ the end Tommy Tom came off that.

But you can see their mindset right now. Clearly doesn't have to be the mindset after the draft or from the conclusion of training camp. But it appears to be the thinking out of the gates.

Tomlin needs to stay away from the D. Let the coaches do their jobs. Davis is probably the best bet at FS and everyone but Tomlin seems to know that.

In the article it looks at Davis being thrown around to multiple areas. So you throw him around to yet another. Hard for a younger player. Not that he can't do it. But it is a unknown. More of a unknown than Burnett that has played the position. There is more film available as a result of Morgan playing it.

Again how it starts isn't always how it finishes.

Some thought Debo would start at OLber easing Watt in. And this was after the draft -perception.

Add a FS in the draft and who knows how this shakes out.

Even without that maybe Davis does well at FS. But he will have to earn it.

If you watch Tomlin's comments to the end, he says Davis and Burnett are pretty much interchangeable at SS and FS. He added they're also looking to see what they add in the draft, that all options are on the table at the safety position.

We have one good safety in Burnett. Draft another

Wouldn't it be safe to say "_________(insert player name)" could be at this position or that position as we haven't even started any actual team practices.... Training camp ect.. COACH speak is what I read but more importantly Tomlin is thinking about potential and alignments of personal. That's about it for this time of year. Post draft it could all change......\
