Question: what is a double disc?

Well in farm land country it would be referring to a disk that cuts up anything in the crop field, crop stock / earth chunks / rattle snakes and things of that nature. In the early days there was just one row of disk blades (round concave like plates made of hardened steel), the angle was adjustable which also contributed to the depth of cut.

As farming evolved the disk evolved as well, they added another row right gapped behind the first row with opposite andgle as first row.

The slang name was "DOUBLE DISK"
