Notes observations as the drinking town with a football problem prepares for the third time is the charm.
* Ravens will be flip flop their O-line around and that should give Heyward a favorable match-up against a rookie. Even though the secondary has been playing well as of late, constant pressure on Flacco will be one key to the game. Their tackles have experience but playing out of position should favor Harrison in his match-up as well.
* In a game with plenty of rain, the turnover battle could be key. So as Harris will get more looks, perhaps the most important part of his day will be securing the football. He will need to run effective, not necessarily game breaking. Just enough where play action passing can be effective. Although Ben is faster at getting the ball out of his hands improving yearly the last three years. With the Ravens effective pass rush, quick & accurate passing will be needed more than ever.
* Steelers O-line has improved, this is a game to continue that trend. Slow down the Ravens pass rush and good things for Ben going against a average secondary at best.
* Troy's return can not be a hindrance to the passing game. If anything he might want to free lance a little less, and perhaps split time with Will Allen on passing downs. My hope anyways....
* The Killer B's need to play well - Ben, Brown, Bryant, Blake............... yes Bryant is a key to the passing game as his emergence has helped a red-zone offense score, in a area that routinely was a sore spot. and might be impacted with Bell out. Blake's speed will be a welcomed attribute against T. Smith. Rain might impact the match-up as well. As fans we know Flacco will heave the ball deep in prayer of a penalty. Good deep ball coverage will be needed. (that's what she said)
Matchup edges
Quarterbacks - Steelers
Running backs - Ravens
O-line - Steelers
Wide Receivers - Steelers
Secondary /pass D - Steelers
Pass rush - Ravens
Run D - push
Special teams - Ravens
A fairly close match-up, closer with Bell out. But still favorable for the Steelers with the Ravens having O-line and secondary issues. As well as it being a home game. Seattle can have it's 12th man,we have a Nation !
