So rumors have it the Steelers could move Mason Rudolph and at first I was completely against weakening a position that is so uncertain. But Pickett has played well and I just don't see a scenario where he isn't handed the reigns with in the next few months. All it is going to take is a stumble from this team and the ownership will immediately push the issue so we might as well see what the kid can do. But the problem I am seeing with any QB on the roster is the glaring hole at LT that the team did not fill this offseason. I was really hoping a stud LT would fall but that didn't happen and the Steelers jumped on taking their hopefully future franchise QB.

Well, I have also been reading a rumor that Andre Dillard a 2019 first round pick is on the trading block as well. Sirianni's offense is more predicated on a pass first type QB getting the ball into his playmakers hands. A lot of quick reads and throws. Hurts doesn't really fit this mold but is running the offense the best he can. Gardner Minshew is the veteran backup and gives them a little more of what Sirianni is wanting to run but he is limited physically. Rudolph could easily go in there an start off at the teams #3 QB but given the guys in front of him have an opportunity some time throughout the year to start and show what he can do. Whether good or bad I feel he would appreciate an opportunity and would fit that offensive scheme perhaps even better than Canada's.

We in turn get a young (26) year old LT that even with his struggles in his rookie season was able to use the 2020 season to practice and improve enough to grade out as a 69.6 overall and 71.7 pass blocking with 65.4 run blocking in his 340 snaps last year at LT. With a good young LT like that on the roster we could then transition (or at least try) Dan Moore Jr. to LG where he might not be so overmatched athletically and perhaps playing in a phonebooth he might be better suited to do. If that is the case we would hopefully fix the left side of our line allowing whomever is QB a little more protection and a better opportunity to succeed.

Even if they don’t want Rudolph because tgey have Minshew, we could still trade Mason and use the pick we get to acquire him

Minshew or Rudolph over Jalen Hurts? I don't think Sirianni is that stupid but if he is....

FWIW, Nick Mullins, who has more playing experience and a higher career QB rating was just traded to the Vikings for a conditional 7th rounder. Rudolph has better size and pedigree, but that’s about it.

Minshew is not terrible and was stuck on a bad team. Look at what lawrence is doing on the Jags and he is supposed to be the second coming. Hurts has potential but has not put it together yet.

Yes but Mullins is graciously listed as 6’1 and has tge same arm that Duck did… people bitching about masons arm, but Rudolph grades out far better than either of them there…

As a backup, which is what they were looking for, he can get by. But he isn’t going to be thought of as much more. In the idiotic world of nfl scouting, qbs under 6’2 don’t get the same respect as larger guys

I think it Rudolph is going anywhere it is Detroit or Seattle. I think those teams will wait for the cut though. If it is going to happen it is this week.

Detroit will first have to forget Rudolph’s one and only start in 2021 against them.

Why? He was put in a terrible position and still completed 30 of 50 in a terrible game plan by Canada. Had them in position to win twice. It was not pretty but Ben certainly had plenty of ugly games. Fumbles not Mason were the difference in that game. And bad run defense.

Sounds like they are cutting Chris O. I don't think Rudolph is going anywhere.
Probably makes PS and Khan is probably way too worried of having another 2019 with having no QB's since he is putting them out in front of this horrific offensive line to trade Rudolph too soon before the deadline. My point was it could improve both teams sooner than later and maybe prevent our QB's from getting murdered and not have to worry about keeping 3 QB's on the 53 man.

Maybe we could package Bush and Rudoplh together and get a decent return player or pick. Might be able to squeeze a 3rd out of that.

2001-2002: the price of such a trade was Fu and a six pack of Iron City.

With inflation and whatnot, I'm guessing today that would require Bush, Rudolph, and a case of Yuengling??
