UH OH...Cut block... its back

Is the training, "don't cut your own guys' knees out?" Maybe a color vision test, and pop quiz before every game: "what color pants are we wearing today?"

At least they're practicing it so maybe they won't hit their own guy this year.

Personally don't like it, think it is too dangerous. If done properly i guess it would be ok, but don't stoop to the Ravens level of 2 players engaging while one of them Yanda Cut Blocks

Well, Its something others are doing on a regular basis. If we start doing it regularly, we'll be out of line before the end of the first quarter :)

Salute the nation

Pouncey after hearing about the cut-block being re-established:

Cut blocking was never going anywhere. It is critical in zone blocking to keep the backside defender from catching the play. Steelers problem was that they were a sloppy mess at executing it.

Steelers half hearted approach then quick abandonment of the technique was a death sentence for the OL coach (who's name escapes me). They now have arguably the best guy currently in the business teaching it; hopefully it won't be such a bad word to Steelers fans now, though i'm not holding my breath on that.

The zone scheme is fantastic. The only real problem is that is takes a few years to fully implement. Your OLine only truly becomes familiar with the nuances of it by going thru live-fire. No Head Coach or DC is going to allow this to be done during practice. It takes a season of using it to really become second nature. Then any NEW OLinemen get to fold into a culture of a group already doing it.

Both of the guys mentioned above were lousy at the o line coaching job. That group has not been doing well for a considerable time. I hope Munch can fix things although the switching back and forth is sounding like it is really hindering Adams. It almost seems like they are trying to make him bad at multiple positions, That has got to be hell on a players footwork and his was not that great to begin with.
