My brother noticed that the steelers and Kenny PIcket, and the running game looked better when he was under center.. I THink i agree with him.

Then i think back to last year , with ben NEVER under center. It was pretty damn bad. Your thoughts?

YES! I recall a commentator (don’t recall which one) suggesting last week the Steelers try running the ball with Pickett under center. Definitely seemed to work.

I also noticed Watt was out there at least a half dozen times. Not a ton but more than usual. I think Harris really needs to be a 90% run off center time of back. And having a lead blocker clear the hole would also be advantageous.

Not many positives this season; however, it has been refreshing to see KP sneak for first downs/touchdowns in short yardage situations, instead of painfully watching them fail to convert on 3rd-and-less than 1 with Ben taking the snap from the shotgun formation.

Baby steps… maybe soon we will throw a real rb screen play or more than one slant or crossing route a game…

My thoughts? Matt canada

The second the Steelers fell in love with Harris last year, the team philosophy should've shifted to building a monster offensive line to run a tough, physical offense like Tennessee. They still had a beast a receiver with AJ Brown, but the Titans play physical football with a tough defense and it was right there for the Steelers to build. Instead, they still want to throw the ball all around the field...as long as it is within five yards of the LOS and outside the hashes. This team has absolutely no philosophy on offense.

I could never figure out the advantage of the RB starting 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage for a running play. Maybe they can see the field and potential openings better but I always thought it was dumb.

Gives the opponent a good visual look as well.

I fell in love with a lot of stuff last year.
However the Steelers?…..

Agreed though. The Oline is a weakness

Square peg round hole, BEN's fault again.

ALL run games are better with QB under center.

This is so ****-ing true that it makes one delusional in the quest.

The advantage of running pistol or some equivalent is:
You force players out of the box because you can throw much easier. This allows the oline to define who they block because the linebackers cannot engage as quickly.
You can run rpos that depend on the edge biting or not and binding the Will linebacker between both.

It's timing with the blocking assignments to make sure the RB hits the hole as the blockers are engaged. On some pulling plays, the RB will take a jab step to give the blockers just a bit more time to get to their respective assignments.
