I predicted Bama would beat Michigan because I though Milroe was a much more poised QB than he is. I still believe this Michigan defense can be beaten by a good QB. Penix is playing lights out. It’s a joke that Penix did not win the Heisman. Wash has multiple playmaking WRs.
The problem is, I don’t know that Wash can stop the Michigan run game. If they can’t then Michigan will be content to just run and keep the ball away from Penix. If that happens, Penix will need to be perfect, scoring on nearly every single drive in a limited possession game. That’s Michigan’s real gameplan. Limit possessions.
I believe the change in clock rules has helped Michigan this year because it favors their style of play. It’s now much easier to shorten games.
Wash needs to try to make this a track meet. Force Michigan out of that comfort zone. Bama did a little bit and McCarthy almost made some big mistakes. He got away with an INT because Bama guy had a foot out of bounds.
This game is all on Penix. The Wash OL held up pretty well to a Texas DL that has some dudes on it. But the Texas secondary sucks. Michigan won’t give up many easy plays. Penix has to be aggressive but not greedy.
I’m thinking Mich wins 24-20.
But I’m hoping they lose big, Harbaugh leaves for the NFL, new evidence has Michigan wins stripped for cheating, some schollies taken, a bunch of kids enter the portal and Michigan slips down near Purdue in the standings for years to come.
