How many players have been wasted career wise, for the legacy of the Mike Tomlin show ?

Ben Roethlisberger being the biggest named player...

TJ Watt a very close second

And the list continues. Once Coach Cowher left, the Tomlin rode player's careers. He tried to re-load but to a lower success in both quantity and quality.

It can be argued that at one time, Coach Tomlin had a 10year stretch of arguably the best talented teams in the nfl.......... yet nothing to show for it.

We come now to a pillar, TJ WATT and possibly his end here. TJ's silence is deafening, is money the issue or is it desire to be here. TJ can see the QB fiasco and can also see that there will be no championships (not tomlinships) anywhere in the near future. aaaA-aron will not lead them to a super bowl so another year wasted and yet no QB.

I feel for TJ and the many before & with him in this journey.

Tomlin is just an actor. Like the " your favorite attorney " guy on tv. Tough guy act. Tough guy talk. Talks AT you, not with you.

TJ can see he will wear no rings here. He can see he is just being used as an actor, not a football player. I think he is fed up with it.

He only has a short time left. He might as well get all he can.

That list could include besides Ben and TJ, AB, Cam, Minkah, Highsmith, Pouncey, DeCastro.
Those are some that come to mind as I sit here.
That’s a great question on TJ and what the hell he may be thinking.
He’s turning 31 in the fall and hasn’t been on a winning playoff team yet and there appears to be nothing on the horizon.
This franchise as I’ve said many times before is and has been nothing more than a hodge podge of nothingness.
There is no clear direction for this organization. Just look at the QB room since Ben retired.
The team is sprinkled with stars but lacks quality in various other positions.
The offensive and defensive schemes are outdated and the teams plays afraid and lacks aggressiveness.
The coordinators and position coaches are a joke.Would Terrell Austin actually be hired as a DC anywhere else? I don’t think so!
The best thing for the organization and TJ is to move on. Work out a deal to trade him to a contender for the best deal possible.
He wins and you win! Paying him 40 million per season here would be foolish for a team that’s nowhere near winning even a playoff game in the next few years.

For the sake of consistency, did Cowher waste the careers of great players like Greg Lloyd, Rod Woodson, Demontii Dawson or Carnell Lake? Does this standard apply to all coaches?

Tomlin should have been fired. But aren't the results on the field enough without adding all this other stuff?

To be fair we can state the clear folks as you mention. How about the talent that “should have been” that clearly was NEVER developed. But for bud and Jarvis. They were what we knew they were.

It seems that wasting legacy is the least the the concerns right now. It seems there are a lot of players growing tired of the Rodgers/QB situation, and Tomlin is doing nothing about it. We may see a mass exodus, or at least trade requests the longer this goes on...

The problem with trading TJ, is the guy in charge of using the draft capital you get in return is Tomlin LOL.
Why Coryea, are you suggesting the great one is not a great evaluator of talent or would misuse and fail to develop any talent?
How dare you criticize the anointed one!

I'm gonna push back on this....Coaches coach & Players play...Ben should of won 3 rings...

In the Super Bowl against Green Bay The Steelers AND Big Ben were down 6 with 2:12 left 4 minutes after the Mendenhall fumble...Ben didn't get it done, didn't even get a first down...Ben's was the QB. he had a chance to win & did not...That is not on Tomlin...Ben could have 3 rings with one more drive...

With 3 rings BB would be looked at so differently...That is on Ben not Coach Tomlin...I know everyone wants to blame Mikey, but guess what boyz? Tomlin never threw a pass...

Ben underachieved because he was so ******* talented and didn't work on his craft...

Ben Roethlisberger was THE SHAQUILLE O"NEILL of the NFL

So talented, naturally bigger & stronger than everyone else, & lazy AF

Who? If you make that accusation, you ought to state the player or players who did not get developed here but flourished elsewhere.

I would not blame TJ if he wants to move on, and I wouldn't think that money is the issue, after all, how much does he need? Could be wrong about that I suppose.

The bigger issue is the disfunction of the organization and that starts with Deuce.
Money is 100% the issue. JJ Watt is basically his personal spokesman and has said not giving guys early contracts eliminates a hometown discount. The Steelers without a doubt gave Watt a competitive offer, but if Garrett got $40 million, Watt will want $41 million. As a fan, I want him at whatever price. However, building a competitive roster, trading him would be the move because that's too much for a player who will be on the downside of his career. I completely understand whichever side the FO goes with, but they cannot just let him walk for nothing.

That defense isn't going to championship level again until they get a new coaching staff. Someone with some high end tactical ability.

It's exactly the same **** every year. Good teams beat it,elite teams make them look stupid.

TJ Watt is just a bandaid on a much bigger fatally flawed issue.

They can trade away all they want for draft picks. It won't amount to a hill of beans.

If the $$$ is put on the table Watt will sign. Which I am sure the Steelers will do.

Winning playoff games yet a SB is way over rated anymore. If Watt can help us get to 9 wins.... all will be good. Money will be well spent.

I remember reading that GB was down a few CBs on one side of the field during that SB. Tomlin stated that they wouldn't exploit that area because Tomlin never let's another team dictate what they do.

To this day he has the same mentality. Load 10 guys in the box on 1st down. We will run right up into that 99% of the time. Why? It is what WE do.

That's all on Tomlin.

That said. That probably was one of my biggest disappointments....when we didn't even get a 1st down on that last drive.

Throw Fitzpatrick into any Watt trade package as a freebie. We just might get four 1st round picks from the Browns.🤔🤪

Absolutely stillwright, money is the main reason these players are on the field.

Money over PO / SB / personal accolades / everything.

If the money is there, the signature will follow.

I thought this was gonna be about Coolie's drunken threads
Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt.

Wasted away again in Steelerville
Nothin' to show but this brand new tattoo
But it's a real beauty
A Mexican cutie
How it got there Coolie hasn’t a clue

Recognize the culprit, not the Ben.
