The Pittsburgh Steelers have been linked repeatedly to Liberty quarterback Malik Willis. He’s a strong competitor on the field, and showed he’s a solid person off the field today.

Potential first-round QB Malik Willis took time away from the NFL Combine to help this person who was experiencing some hard times
👏

Steelers Brass have to love the gesture by Willis. The quarterback of your team not only needs to be a strong leader on it, but off of it too.

Last season the Steelers selected Najee Harris in the first round of the draft. Harris of course grew up in shelter’s and spent time living on the streets.

Harris turned down his invitation to be part of the NFL draft in Cleveland last year so that he could host a draft party at a homeless shelter.

Najee Harris threw a draft party for the kids at the homeless shelter where he lived for several years growing up
🙏

This is amazing.

Can NEVER go wrong with an off-field move such as this. Need more NFL players like this !!!!

NOT selling short the nfl players who do the good.

Salute the nation

When I first saw this story, it pretty much cemented the notion that Tomlin is going to do whatever it takes to draft Malik Willis, and my fears of him becoming a Steeler will be realized. If only the guy could only throw a football accurately, they might have something.

Kenny Picket college completion % 62.4
Malik Willis college completion % 62.8

In college:
Dwayne Haskins 70%
Mason Rudolph 63.2%

Food for thought...

I'll say it again, Josh Allen.

At this point, my only concern w/ Malik is/are his intermediate throws. Josh Allen had the VERY SAME problem his first year in the league.

I'm not saying you're wrong but I'm starting to imagine what the offense 'could look like' with Malik and Najee. Methinks if they go Malik at 1.20 - you can be sure they'll target a premium IOL in FA or the second round. JMO...

Haskins was throwing to basically a pro stable of receivers and didn’t have to make many throws into coverage. That is part of the problem with OSU QB’s they are surrounded by loads of talent and don’t have to work at their craft the way QBs on teams with lesser talent do. I am slowly warming to the possibility of Willis. He was most definitely not surrounded by a wealth of talent and had to do the bulk of the work himself. Still don’t want to waste draft capital to move up for him but I will cheer for him if we get him. I think Ridder is not far behind him.

Pickett also improved to 67.1% in his final season, while Willis dropped every year to a low of 61.1% as a senior.

Dwayne Haskins had about a half hour to throw most of the time at OSU, but has a 60.1 completion percentage in the NFL. Rudolph is at 61.5% as a pro.

So I'm not sure where you're going with this.

You can say it again, but you're still comparing a single similarity between two guys who are totally different in stature and pedigree. Josh Allen was a consensus top ten pick, and some outlets even had him going #1 overall to the Browns. Nobody has Malik Willis as the first pick in this draft. He just doesn't have prototypical NFL size.

I haven't seen much accuracy from Willis on intermediate or deep throws. He has a very good arm. So do a lot of prospects who never amounted to anything.

This is a bit of a fallacy for OSU QBs:

Justin Fields 68.4%
JT Barret 64.7%

Those are the QBs immediately before and after Haskins with lower career comp %

Point is we're screaming on how Pickett and Willis are the best options to be our next QBs when the ones on our roster were not only more accurate in college, but also have NFL experience.

I don't disagree with your point but you still have to look at the talent level around a prospect and judge his skills accordingly. Great talent around him can make a QB look better than he is and lessen his experience in throwing receivers open. That is one of Haskins biggest issues from what I have seen.
