And so the drama begins, yet again.
Meh. He is under contract. Guess he will be doing another "hold in".....looking for another BIG payday. Steelers will make him the highest paid OLBer ......again.To me, this isn’t a surprise at all.
I don’t have any social media, including twitter, but I do know some twits.
Can’t blame TJ as this has dotteled way past due date. The Steelers cost themselves a lot of $$$coin$$$ in waiting. The Helmet swinger is the new bar and TJ is going to get that type of payday to exceed.
TJ is well liked amongst the players and him missing this mini-camp should not be a big deal.
Myself, I want all players to attend all team functions, but sometimes the management make that impossible.
I hope this gets done sooner than later, NO “hold-inn” come training camp.
Salute the nation
Definitely not a surprise, but a totally avoidabe distraction caused by a clownshow organization under the current leadeship.
This pains me to say, but Watt is bigger than the Steelers at this point.
He needs to play his professional game his way. Stay for legacy, cash, etc., or go to a team that has the SB in their sights for real. His call.
This team is a joke at this point, and he knows he will never sniff the SB here. So, choose TJ. Choose what you want your legacy to be, and live that.
We love what you are here, but understand
How would you have avoided this???Definitely not a surprise, but a totally avoidabe distraction caused by a clownshow organization under the current leadeship.
I said it last year. He’s too nice to ask to be traded to a contender but I just know deep
I will repeat myself for clarity.Every single person that wouldn't raise their hand to mow the yard of Tomlick, Con or Looney knows they waited too late, now have to pay more and caused an uneeded distraction.
You poor thing. You don't like a poster so you can't even acknowledge something everyone knows. Clown poster. Do you need a blanket or crayons?
He doesn't need the work, he stays in great shape and less wear and tear is a good thing. I doubt the players even care. More work for the young guys. We have seen this show before and we know exactly how it will go as always. The only people making a fuss about it are emotional fans and click baiting media blowhards. This for me is almost a non story. Pretty much expected.
THIS^^. This team may make some waves this year or Rodgers may get injured early like he did with the Jets and the season is pretty much toast. Next year will be a rebuilding year regardless of what management may want you to believe. TJ is on the downside of his career and you can't base your decisions on what he did in the past.No surprise whatsoever! TJ turns 31 this fall and this most likely is his final big payday so of course he’s going to want one final big payday.
Now the question remains do you accommodate TJ and pay him like Myles Garrett?
I personally think it’s bad business to pay him that much turning 31 and appearing to be on the back end of his career.
I like TJ and all that he’s meant to the team but they need to look towards the future and add draft capital which you could do now by trading him.
Trade him to a legit contender giving him a chance to win playoff games and maybe a SB while building your team’s future.
Paying him to play here for a pretender does not serve either party well since we both lose.
Just my opinion!

He’s simply not worth that money.Just pay him, you're not paying a QB contract, there won't be a big QB contract here until a minimum of 4 years from now, and that's if they hit on a 1st round pick at QB. I'm keeping the known commodity, the all time great Steeler.
They didn't bring Rodgers to trade away their best defensive player, actually their best player, period. He’s simply not worth that money.
This team is going nowhere so I would think the smart move would be to get the best deal you can for TJ wIth premium picks in the 26 draft.
TJ disappeared toward the later part of last season.
Not saying he’s still not an effective edge rusher but it appears he pointing the other way now.
Not thinking it smart to pay him for his past production but should be looking towards what his future production could be.
We moved on from Hines, Troy, and even Ben although they were older than TJ but edge rushers on the other side of 30 can be risky when you’re paying them.
A trade to a contender helps TJ and helps the Steelers and I’d hate to see him go but it’s business.
Oh I know they won’t trade TJ, but only saying I think that’s the smart move to make. They didn't bring Rodgers to trade away their best defensive player, actually their best player, period.
