The Rams won today, so hopefully they overlook us a bit looking ahead to Dallas… this is another team whose OC/ HC could destroy our defense, but the D is a low pressure D… and our o works best vs those…

Another way to look at is that last time we played a decent QB/WR combo the team was smacked silly

Watson, Jimmy G, and Action Jackson was the victories.

I hate thinking this way but I don't like the teams odds of victory.

Of course I hope I am 100 percent wrong!

With Kupp back and Nacua really playing even better than I predicted we are in trouble. I think our best hope is if Wallace and JPJ play outside an we move Pat Pete inside. IMO if we keep Pat Pete outside Kupp goes for 150+ yards. If it was me I would jam Kupp, if you can, with a guy like Wallace and shade coverage to his side. Then see if JPJ can match up on Nacua. I wouldn't play too much zone because Stafford will eat you alive in zone. Just pick you apart 10-20 yards at a time. Aaron Donald isn't have a great season but he is the guy you have to account for on the DL. Seumalo is going to have his hands full. I would try to get a back in as much as possible to help protect or even have him do sneak or rub routes. If we can double him inside then have the RB do a rub. If he is singled up then have him to a sneak and chip Donald on the way out. Won't stop him but will definitely slow him down a little.

I think tj might kill Stafford
He will need to stay on him constantly. Otherwise Stafford will carve up Wallace and PatPete.

They have another capable guy to pair with Kupp, Nucua. So they will have to sit PatPete if they want to play man. At this stage in his career that's as bad as playing zone with Stafford.

The pass rush really is going to have to hit home or you will see Houston, San Fran revisited.

The Rams could be missing their top 2 RB's. That would be a help but PS RB's still can run all over our D. And, I am not sure if we can cover their WR's with Kupp back and a good TE. Our pass rush will have to get a ton of pressure on Stafford without sending too many. Canaduh better have the O clicking early this week and they better be playing to win from the opening whistle and not playing not to lose. They need to score early and preferably often without going 3 and out all the time.

TJ and Highsmith are the only reason we are 3-2.
Wrong. It was a collective effort. Plenty of positive contributions led to the three wins. You win as a team you lose as a team. The inside linebackers have been a positive plus this season as has Pickens.

Here is a small listing of the secondaries lack of success,

"
Here’s a list of how opponents’ top options have fared against the black and gold:

  • Week 1. vs. San Francisco - Brandon Aiyuk had eight catches for 129 yards and one TD.
  • Week 2 vs. Cleveland - Amari Cooper had seven catches for 90 yards.
  • Week 3. vs. Las Vegas - Davante Adams hauled in 13 passes for 172 yards and two TDs.
  • Week 4. vs Houston - Nico Collins went off for seven catches 168 yards and 2 TDs.
  • Week 5 vs. Baltimore - Zay Flowers - five catches for 73 yards."

As you can see this team has it's fair share of concerns on the other side of the ball. Unfortunately for them they aren't facing a RB playing QB this week.

Watt is a very rare non-QB who is a legitimate MVP contender.
I really hope he shatters the record this year. Strahan and his bs about a 17 game season. Dude, TJ missed a game and the refs stole a sack from him. Strahan should have a sack taken away because Favre handed him a meaningless one.

So people understand what is going on with the pdefense, its two separate but different issues

The first is the secondary.
For years, with a small exception when Haden got here, Tomlin ran a ton of zones. We were often top 5 in cover 2 and 3 usage.
It stands to reason, then, that we loaded up on guys who were more quick than fast. That gives them the ability to react in zone, but often those guys had little long distance speed… even when we would be in man, we played a ton of man-off because otherwise our cbs would be exposed in deep coverage

Now we have Austin, who is trying to run more man press, but we really don’t have the CBs for that yet…

That is why they are doubling down on the front 7 pressure this year… and overcommitting to the pass rush is burning us in run stopping…

Thats the issue with the front seven… I think the concept was built when we had in his prime Heyward, Tuitt, and Hargrave… stop the run on the way to the qb concepts… I don’t think the new crew at DE are able to do that as well…

The Rams will be down to their 4th string RB sunday and their one starter at CB just got arrested so he may not be available
So the Steelers will load up in the box to stop the run then? Mixed in with heavy zone.

And the Rams have 2 WR's (with Kupp back) and Higbee who can put up big numbers. Huge test for the D and whatever gameplan they come up with.

I don’t wish for bad things to happen to the other team. But this is probably the only way to give us a chance lol

Will Jones get the start ahead of Moore? In his one start, he looked better than Moore has all year yet Moore went right back to first-team reps this week.
I just saw Dan is practicing with the 1st team. I get the old adage you don't lose your job due to injury. Except Jones out performed Moore and Moore could easily move to RT and take Chuks plays.

Hi Folks,

New to the forum. Happy to be with the best fans in the NFL!

Took the fam to opening day. Great time, bad game.

I have 2 tix to the game Sunday in LA. Can't go. Hit me up if interested.

Thanks and that's another Steeler "FIRST DOWN" (I hope!).

What are you unloading them for, how much? Might help you sell them if fans know the price straight up. Saves you some time if they don't want to spend whatever...

Your right. Here is the info.

The 2 tickets are in section 342 row 7. $300 each which is definitely cheaper than I paid.
