Welcome to the Steelers Darnell Washington

Very interesting prospect. Really solidifies the depth. While giving Kenny some help in pass protection as well as another pass catching option.

Washington is such a good run blocker and will free up Freiermuth to be more involved in the passing game. Great value in the third round and for the first time in a long time it appears the Steelers will have a philosophy on offense.

Love the pick.

The Steelers may have themselves the absolute steal of this draft if Washington's knees turn out not to be a problem.

slipped a bit

able to trade back and still get this kid and a 4th rounder

They didn't go stupid in round three. It was masterfull getting their fourth back and selecting a player who has upside like Washington. If his knee(s) are bad that's the way it works in round three with a guy who's fallen but the alternative outweighs it. Will never regret this pick either way.

Wasn't there a recent discussion about the number "0" being available to players now? Washington could pick his college number.

Stem cell injections if it's a degenerative issue could really help.

I’d like to believe that the 2023 Steelers will break the 1978 Patriots rushing yards record of 3,165, Darnell Washington will have 25 receptions and 4 TDs and yet will be named team MVP thus leaving everyone understanding that the NFL isn’t necessarily a “passing league”… or something like that.

that DW played along with Broderick on the OL is pretty cool. What they did in Georgia should translate well to the NFL. Just so Canada doesn't screw the pooch. The ball disappears in his hands. He will wear defenses down.

Btw, I see on Twitter they've already started calling the kid "Mt. Washington"

imagine redzone and you go 3 TE with Freiermuth split out wide and your receivers are

Pickens 6'3
Robinson 6'2
Freiermuth 6'5
Washington 6'7
Gentry 6'8

That is why I am not a fan of the 5'9" DB's. They simply cannot match up with receivers like this.

Washington moves like a guy 6'1", 215 lbs. Seriously, watch the highlights and it's not until he is next to a defender that I say, "Damn, dude is massive."

This kind of a tip the hat to chuck noll and company chuck use to draft tight ends like this as after a few years turn them into tackles guys like Bennie Cunningham. Chuck invented the double tight end using the second tightend in motion extending the vaulted Steeler trap. Man what I would give to see the Steelers line up and run the trap with harris Washington and company!! GoSteelers!

if there is, i cannot see it.

i would sit Dan Moore and see if Washington could play Left Tackle. :)

Cunningham never played OT. I think you are referring to Larry Brown, who became an awesome LT.

Trivia: Which Pro-Bowl LT caught the first Steelers TD pass in the Super Bowl? Yep, Larry Brown. His TD put the game away in SB IX.

The only problem i can see is that the middle of the field is off-limits to the passing game. So three of those guys are starting with a 30-yard handcuff.

Yeah, but that tune is changing, I think ... hope. The TD pass to Heyward, the TD pass to Pickens, both strikes by Kenny in the middle of the field.
