The Pittsburgh Steelers are off to a bad start this season after a 27-17 defeat to the Green Bay Packers this past weekend. With a record of 1-3 and trailing the rest of the division by two games, it could get ugly for the black and gold. With re-signing its top player in TJ Watt, and bringing in free agent Melvin Ingram, this defense was expected to be one of the best in football. After Week 1 in Buffalo, it surely looked to be the case, but the next three games would be bad for the defense and I can’t really put all the blame on them. This offense is one of the worst in football, with big expectations for this team starting with its number one pick in Najee Harris. Harris was expected to make this team a much better run team to bring balance to the new offense ran by Matt Canada, but that has not been the case.

So were expectations too high for this team? They surely look like it as a lot of SteelerNation expected big things from the new-look offense — which doesn’t look much different other than the pre-snap motion. The defense can’t catch a break with the injuries up front either. The Steelers may have had high expectations, but that is also the way the Steelers organization is ran. They don’t have losing seasons, just look at Mike Tomlin. In 14 years at the helm for the Steelers, he has 0 losing seasons. Even when losing the future Hall of Fame quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger just a few seasons ago due to injury, Tomlin led this team to a .500 season which in the current playoff format would have been the 7th seed in the playoffs. This team needs time and with an extra game this year, that might help this team if they can figure it out, so don’t give up on the Steelers.

Where do the Steelers go from here? I am not sure quite frankly. Do you want to see a change at quarterback to try and spark the offense, or do you want to just go into total rebuild mode? It is a tough subject because again, this team was given high expectations. With the Steelers having a brand new line, we expected them to struggle, but not as bad as they have been. They have four rookies starting on this offense, is that the issue? Do we need to give them until the bye week before big changes are made? That is where I am at with this team. I think we need to see how this team does in the next few weeks as they head into their bye week.

Meh. I thought we were a 6 to 8 win team at best. I will admit that after the Buffalo game I thought we had a shot at the playoffs and that was only because of our defensive play. Since the first game our defense has been as much of a disappointment as our offense.......maybe more.

I was going to say... Who actually had high expectations?

Well at the start of every season I always thought 19-0 but this year seemed different so I had to go with 20-0
