What frustrates me is the hypocrisy and moral superiority some people have.

Harvey Weinstein is a morally corrupt person. And Hollywood has known about it for decades. Yet they continuously stand in front of the podium come award time and lavish praise and gratitude upon him EVERY YEAR. Yet have this moral outrage when they catch Trump saying "*****" on an audio recording with Billy Bush (who is also likely morally corrupt).

And this goes both ways, both sides. The stupid politician from Pennsylvania (and he's not the only one) that sits there on his moral high horse telling about how abortions are bad and should be outlawed yet the minute his mistress is 3 weeks late, the first thing he recommends is getting an abortion.

It's sickening. It really is.

I'm not saying I'm better or I would avoid the temptations. I don't know what would happen until I'm in their shoes. I know that.

But the ability to abuse your power and SIMULTANEOUSLY stand there and claim moral superiority to others (and Weinstein was a vocal critic against Trump) and demand morality from people is just mind boggling. And Hollywood is the worst. Absolutely the worse. There is a culture in Hollywood to accept some of the most demented fetishes around. They accept sexism and harassment and ageism and survive in an industry that is BASED on the superficial and make believe and yet talk down to middle America like they are the ones with their morals wrong by not accepting their lifestyles or not being "inclusive" enough.

The truth is, I'm not sure there is anyone left I can believe when they stand up there and talk about morality in this country anymore. Not one. Right, Left.... doesn't matter. The power corrupts absolutely and today (as much as any time) that corruption includes sexual conquest and exploitation.

We all accept it in some way. It's too prevalent in our politicians almost not to. But it's still wrong. What Clinton did was wrong. What Trump said (and likley did over the years) is wrong. What Weinstien did was wrong. And likely criminal.

Women teachers risk their lives/careers/marriages if they have them when they rape young men. You're right Hamster, it's a weekly news story hearing about some female teacher raping a HS or middle school age male. What's up with that?

Are men really risking more than these women? If you think that, why do you believe it? Is it because you believe women simply aren't that successful (making you a misogynist) and therefore have nothing to risk or less to risk? You think these women that are having affairs aren't somehow as guilty as the same man they are in bed with (if so why)?

This is just an odd conundrum to me, always has been. Go to divorce court, the courts look at men as the violent, the adulterers, the swindlers all too often and women as the victims - despite committing the same actions. Courts will destroy men over adultery. Women...eh, not so much. We as a society tend to be very forgiving of the female cheater, not the male. Monica Lewinsky was a victim. Anthony Weiner is a vile human being. These HS female teachers raping young men...story pops up, disappears...poof. No one seems to care.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying women don't do bad stuff too. I'm just curious as the why some of the most powerful men in the world are willing to risk so much...for sex. Yeah, your school teachers are risking their careers and that's bizarre as well. They also don't have to worry about media stalking their every move, so probably don't think they'll get caught.

I'm talking about high profile people at the absolute pinnacle of things they've worked their entire lives to achieve.

The hubris of some of these wealthy powerful people to think that they can do this stuff and no one's ever going to find out and destroy them over it is amazing to me. I just don't get being willing to risk that much over sex.

I do think a young intern is at a significant power disadvantage to the president of the United States btw. Was she a victim like a crime victim? No, she was an adult and was certainly more than willing. Was she taken advantage of and then smeared and destroyed by a much older, more experienced, more powerful person in a position of authority over her? Yes.

Anyway this wasn't intended to be a battle of the sexes post. I just think it's an interesting sociological phenomenon. The way I phrased it was intended to be humorous. I'm not maligning men in general. There's plenty of bad behavior in all circles and from both genders.
