Where's our NEW GM??? Bye bye Mr. Colbert...

Well, Louis Riddick is on ESPN fellating the Steelers for taking Pickett. As I said earlier, seems like he's using his airtime to boost his candidacy for GM. lol

I know Berm. Most of us wanted to stay out of the QB business this year, myself included. But it’s done and he’s our future, so I’m gonna cheer and support him. 2 more days, let’s hope we really find some gems now. It’s often said that’s where the real meat and potatoes of a team is constructed, so here’s to hoping we get some studs. I still like idea of Coolie’s CB in the slot.

I know he is short, but he plays bigger and his return ability is exceptional

Colbert didn't pick Pickett, That's all Tomlin and Canada unless the duller Rooney intervened.

Colbert signed off on it. Or it wouldn't have happened. Unless the duller Rooney pulled the strings.
It's amazing to me how good picks are all Colbert. While picks we don't like are Tomlin. Why the heck have a GM if he has so little say?

I know I'm pissed off and this is no secret - I don't like the pick of Pickett. Where's our new GM???

ARRRRRGGGHH!!!
So you’re pissed and hurt and need to heal.

I’m curious, who would you have taken? Without trading out of the pick, because the Steelers didn’t trade out of the pick, who do you take at 1.20?

I don’t like the pick. But after reading and listening, I understand the pick a bit more.

So let’s have it. Your pick at 1.20 is…….

Colbert isn’t gonna be here next year. Tomlin had to be the main influence this year.

I don't want any part of Coolie's slot...

I would have traded down and added picks. Hell, with the capital that other teams were heaving away who knows what we could've garnered? So, to be clear, I would not have made a pick at 1 20.

Don't act like no one has ever been pissed off about s draft pick, Sarge.

Colbert is still going to be with the organization in an administrative role. And it was his stated desire to leave the Steelers with a QB before he moved to that role. But, because we don't like the pick, it has to be Tomlin's influence. smh
That Tomlin. He's "the Debil".

I’m not acting that way. I just think you’re being a little melodramatic about it.

Look it was no secret they were taking a QB. They telegraphed that **** all off-season. Most, including myself, were convinced it would be Willis. It ended up being Pickett, who is the better of the two, but that’s a pretty low bar.

Sure I would have enjoyed a pick at a different position of need or a trade down, and let Trubisky have this season and possibly next until the Steelers can find the right guy. That obviously didn’t happen.

Can’t go back in time for a do over, so Pickett it is. I think he will do ok, but I’m not expecting much above what I believe Trubisky will bring us. I just don’t think he’ll have the positive impact that others do. It is what it is. I’m over it, really.

Just hoping they hit it out of the park the rest of the draft.

The Pats who selected right after the Steelers traded pick 21 to Kansas City for picks 29, 94 and 121. That's an 8 position move down and grabbing an extra 3rd and 4th rounder. Real good chance that Pickett would have still been on the board at 29 (KC 21, GB 22, Buff 23, Dal 24, Balt 25, NYJ 26, JAX 27, GB 28)

No one has any idea how any of these picks will work out. We can argue that Kenny was a bad pick all day but we won’t know for a couple seasons. I’ll tell you this much, I’ve read some of his interviews and he’s very well spoken and talks about his obsession with working hard to get better every year. The guy had a great season at Pitt playing against top competition and soon to be 24 is already a mature young man. I think what you get with Kenny is a leader, a guy that will always give 100% and will obsess over improving his game. I think you’re going to see a QB that’s a film junkie, who works hard and will surprise many so called experts.
Btw, I would love to have read Aaron Rodgers bio when he was drafted 24 by the Packers.
No I didn’t want a QB and would have preferred waiting to see how Mitch played, but I will fully support Kenny and want him to play lights out.

I don't like the pick. I have nothing against the person. So, it's in the best interest of the team that Pickett makes me eat my words regarding the pick. I'm all for it. Actually hoping it happens. Make me a believer Kenny. One thing we know is that as a first-round pick of the Steelers, he'll get a full 4 years to do so.

Moving down and aquiring draft capitol in the 2nd or 3rd rounds sure would`ve looked better but, it is what it is now.

Steelers have been quiet about who makes the actual call but it seems apparent that Tomlin gets the last word on the top picks, unless Rooney now intervenes in recent years. It's been that way since Cowher had the last GM fired and installed Colbert not as GM but head of fotball operations or whatever his title was. Colbert didn't even have the title of GM until a few years ago.

Colbert coordinates the scouting, puts together the draft board and works with the bean counters to keep the cap in shape. Once the board is together, I believe it is Tomlin that makes the actual pick in the first few rounds.

Unfortunately,

I see "but it seems apparent" and "I believe" and I read "my opinion is that". I'm not going to ask for citations or any of that bullshit. But, what we do know is that outside of the organization, no one really knows how they make their picks. If anyone does, they're not saying. In this case, Colbert has stated that he wanted to leave the Steelers with a QB to build with before he left. So, either he meant that, or, he was lying in order to hide the fact that Tomlin calls all the shots.

Why is this troll thread not closed? Don't like our QB or GM? No problem. There are 31 other teams that you have the option of being a fan of.

Don't let the door hit ya on the way out, bitterudasteel.

They would need a trade partner to make that happen, and who know, they may have tried, not running to the podium like they always do.

I thought they'd take McDuffie or maybe Booth.
