Yea, sure, the company line is to say we have plenty of depth at RB after Bell....sure we do. A guy who has never had a single touch in the NFL and another who is 5-6 and 160 lbs and runs like he is scared to have someone fall on him are an overwhelming amount of depth at the position. I know, I know, what else are they supposed to say? "If Bell goes down we are screwed?" I get it, but that doesn't mean I believe the team official BS stance. If we lose Bell, we have virtually nothing at HB after that. Bell says Archer runs "like a running back" saying he will run between the tackles and take a 4-yard gain if that is all there is. But how many times will Dri be able to do that before getting hurt? 4? Can you imaging trying to run an offense with DA in every play? Watch him try to pick up a blitz; that out to be something to see: a 170 lb back trying to stop a 250 lb beast of a LB? Good luck with that.

Well, we got DEBO, in the ranks. Relax, this bye week has helped a lot. The new guy definitely got reps as he did while on the practice squad all year. Don't sell him short just yet. Also Johnson(?) our full back, can take a few and Dri may be tougher than one thinks. Maybe if he is needed, then they use /call, plays more to his style. Big IF

I hear you Iron City. I HOPE Dri can handle a volume of carries if called upon, and, yea, the play calling would be altered to some degree, but I'd hate seeing him in pass protection.

Cue up the short quick passing game..

which isnt one of Bens strengths...

Or even a team strength. If you recall, at the beginning of the season, we did far more short passing plays, and we were a bad offense, to some degree, because of it. A few bubble screen plays are fine, but an overdose of them is not. We need to keep throwing down field in a balanced manner. With the play of Brown and the emergence of Bryant, it just makes sense.

Don't forget the emergency RB if everyone goes down is Troy, unless Deebo has passed him on the depth chart.

At some point Bell did not have any carries in the NFL, neither did Willie Parker, who was an undrafted free agent that was sitting on the bench in college. We have 5 games to play before the post season starts, that is all that is a sure thing. We should make the playoffs with the schedule we were given this year but it is still up in the air. I am less concerned about our depth at running back than what is left on the defensive side of the ball. Next year we will likely have some problems at several positions unless we can get some help from Juan Ponce de León.

True about Bell but we drafted him high as well as Archer, big difference between them and Parker but I do hear what your saying. Right now if something was to happen to Bell I have more hope with Harris then Archer but I would hope from here on out we kinda ease these two more into our offense just to start to get their feet wet and take some pressure off Bell. I don't want to pound Bell the next 5 games and be banged up for a playoff run.
I am not so sure the playoff's are a sure thing, it should have been with this schedule but losing to the Bucs and Jets really hurt us right now. With 2 games left vs the Bunholes and a game vs the Chiefs we have our work cut out for us. Not to mention as bad as the Aints and Falcons have been they still have a passing game that we seem to have a problem stopping no matter how bad the team.
I agree 100% about our defense, we are going to have some big holes especially in the back end of our defense. Yeah we have young talent at LB but at some point they need to step up and show what they have too. The good news is this past draft might have netted us a few starters which we needed in the worst way, going into this years draft I feel we have a lot less hole's then we did last year. Not sure how you feel but I think CB and TE are two positiond we should be looking at hard.

We have too many concerns with our starters at DB and DL to worry about RB depth.

It is not a good sign if you have to say that one of your backup options at RB "runs like a RB."

In addition to TE and CB, we also need an OLB, Left Tackle, Left Guard, DE, Safety, RB, QB for the future. Many of these things were caused by having our depth taken from the practice squad for example DE, we lost two from there to other teams and those guys may have been contributing next year. Now we will be looking at rookies to fill their spots.

Thought Mauro showed lots of potential, Williams looked like a project that could challenge for a spot next year and heck I even liked Arnfelt. Fortunately we overpay the waste of space/roster spot Cam Thomas so we can let guys like these go. Thank baby Jesus we have guys like Hubbard and Landry still hanging around. Now we can waste an early pick next year on a tweener DL and draft a mid round project QB that will never see a snap so we can neglect CB and pass rush yet again. Awesome!!! Can't wait to have the same needs and holes going into 2016, can see it unfolding already

Yeah these are areas of need but none bigger then CB and TE, OLB might be an area we need help too but our oline is signed thru next year. We drafted Shark Tom to step in for Troy we def need a back up RB and I am not gonna really worry to much yet about a QB of the future....not right now. I am with you as far as keeping worthless guys like Cam Thomas and losing guys like Mauro & Williams but it is what it is we kinda been beating that drum all year, right?

I think last year our needs (the number of positions needed) were greater than the number of draft picks we had. At least this year it does not look like our needs are greater than our number of picks so that is some progress. I would be pleased if we could get to the point of finding 3 good starters each draft, if we find four I would consider it fantastic.

Not from the sideline they're not.

Your right and I agree but that is not the conversation right now. The conversation is that we do have people there, them not being on the field well that's another story.....and who knows the logic there!
