Claypool is pretty much a given as he is only heading into his 3rd year. Washington will leave and who can blame him. JuJu is probably gone but they should be offering him some 3 or 4 year deal to stay. RayRay should be gone but you know Tomlin will sign him and sign him for way more than he is worth. The dude wouldn't make most teams in the NFL. And, then there is DJ. He looked like he was getting it and improving. Then the last quarter of the season and the playoffs happened and there were those drops we came to hate last year. He is unreliable once again. Unfortunately, they have no one else and will have to offer him something more than he is worth and hope he improves. It's a good thing Ben is getting out of dodge with a ****** OL and a non-existent WR room.

So, who do you think is in our WR room next year? Right now, I begrudgingly say DJ, Claypool and RayRay. They will need at least 2 or 3 more legit guys as RayRay should never be put back on the field like he was this year unless in a dire emergency. WR has to be a priority in FA and in the draft just like DL and OL.

Hell I for one want dj gone. All I hear is what a great route runner. Maybe so but add the drops and running backwards and being to small and scared of contact… not the #1 receiver this team needs. I personally would like to see Washington brought back. He and mason have chemistry and he has showed flashes when given limited opportunity.

The Steelers need a legit No. 1 receiver, there are just too many other needs on the roster to invest heavily this year. DJ, Claypool, and McCloud will return. I think they sign a guy in free agency and draft one late.

they should resign Juju. Any - ANY - Qb we have next year will 100% need him. He's not a #1 WR, but he's the closest thing to one we have. He's an excellent #2 WR.

Claypool, IMO, is a ****-up. Dude jumps for balls that he has no business jumping for. I understand he tries to do that to block the defender from the ball, but it's not effective at all. Throwing to him is a 50% chance for success.

DJ ... god. Started off good this year, then lost his thumbs. But, he'll be back.

Cody White is the only other WR we have signed through next season.

So ... Claypool, DJ and White... and I'd add Juju and resign Miller. Let McCloud walk and bring in some undrafted FAs ... and Rico Bussey.

I hope they are done with DJ. He gets paid to catch a football. Why does he continue to get paid?
The Steelers aren't in position to create another hole in the starting lineup.

Watching this guy i'm surprised nobody comments on how often he quits on plays.

McCloud doesn't deserve a contract unless it is to be a special teams guy. He should not be one of our top 5 WR's - well, maybe No. 5. Keeping Cody White is pointless. I put him on the PS or cut him. Miller should be given a shot but they didn't give him a shot this year which is just mind-blowing. Claypool is here for 2 more years. He hit his sophomore slump and I'd expect him to be much better next year. He has all of the tools you can't teach - speed, athleticism, size, etc. He should have already found a top WR trainer to work with during the offseason. If he hasn't, he better find one soon. Take a week or two off and then get at it. Washington will move on. Tomlin had him in the doghouse for 2 years for no reason. He has no reason to stay unless no one else offers him anything.

I meant more as a general consensus. sorry. Should have said that More people dont comment on it.
DJ has mental lapses ........... I almost lost it when he fumbled with no one near him a couple of weeks ago .... then proceeded to pound his fist on the ground in a temper tantrum while the play was still live and the opposing player had not been touched down yet............ he does not fight for the ball ... just throws up his arms ....

Or the last game on the line with not much time left and he is on the sideline about to start a fight when they just got in position to win the game.

Claypool is a pretty boy who has had to many things handed to him athletically speaking. He needs to play "empty lot" football where roughians rough you up and make you work for catches. Intermural basketball games come to mind ONLY except football with no pads. Toughen him up, makes you use your god given talents instead of expecting flags (penalties) to protect yaz. Get in there and fight for the ball type stuff. That part of the game can be coached but we don't have that coach (able to coach up) currently on staff.

Salute the nation

Come to think about it. Our entire starting WR corps is guilty of doing a lot of just stupid stuff.
Except for James Washington (I know not a starter). All he does is catch every ball thrown his way when he (occasionally) sees the field. I hope he leaves and gets 1000 yards next year for another team (in the NFC).

I will be extremely disappointed if we don’t make JuJu a decent 4 year offer. The guy is tough, can make clutch plays, loves Pittsburgh and provides an energy to the team.

Washington has very good hands, but dude is not an X or even a Y. He just cannot get ANY separation on the outside. Juju is a slot guy, not an X or Y either.

Unfortunately, the Steelers do not have a good route runner with good hands who can beat man coverage. They just don't. For all the kudos Tomlin gets for finding quality WR's in the later rounds, he has come up pretty empty in the past five drafts.

Washington caught 24 of 44 targets this year and has never caught more than 55% of his targets. I'm not sure I've ever seen such an average player get so much hype.
