I can't find a link, but am seeing the fb rumors. Anyone have any news about this?

Thought that it was briefly mentioned in the Tomlin Presser that Willie Gay sustained a quad injury of some kind, there were several others mentioned but nothing official as to severity or what effects will be later as to performance issues. We will likely see a lot of probables and doubtfuls this week.

Yes, one of the sports guys in Pittsburgh said he missed practice Wednesday, but no one seemed overly concerned, hopefully just a Charley horse or something minor

hopefully nothing serious will need him on that super fast carpet.

Tracked it down, Missi was reading off the did not practice report, on Steelers live earlier today, Ike shoulder and forearm injury, William Gay Quad, James Harrison Knee, other non practice participants were listed as not injury related. You can catch it in the first few minutes after the commercial.

is it as Ben's Broken wrist? are we going to have to amputate his leg at the hip?

Good thing we have been drafting CBs high in the draft under Tombert

The tribune review had a nice little blurb at the end of one of their articles.
" Cornerbacks Ike Taylor (shoulder and forearm) and William Gay (quadriceps) and Harrison (knee) all missed Wednesday's practice with injuries. Falcons receiver Julio Jones, who suffered a hip injury in Monday's loss to Green Bay, was kept of practice along with safety William Moore (foot) and cornerback Robert Alford (wrist)."

Dude honestly we didn't draft cornerbacks high under Cowher either, the last one was Chad Scott and he was no shutdown corner. Lebeau's zone scheme does not place high value on shutdown corners so they usually draft corners after the first round.

Also taking CBs first round does not guarantee success, look at CIN they have drafted 5 first round DBs recently and their secondary isn't anything to behold. Simply throwing picks at a position is not how you do it right, that's how you end up being the old browns, snyder's redskins, millen's lions, etc. you get it. When you start strictly drafting for need, you become a bad team. The Steelers have always sought to draft BPA, now you can argue on whether or not the guys they took were the BPA, but to simply scream for one position if the value isn't there is ludicrous. The only CB worth taking at 15 this year would have been Fuller and he was gone, so you move to your next BPA.

You want to draft guys that you scouted and want and not simply what you need.

I heard he had a yeast infection in his vagina.

What has the Steelers D become that we worry about an injury to Willie Gay? Not to knock Gay, he's been pretty solid. But for a while he really seemed like the second coming of Harvey "Toast" Clayton.

"Not to knock Gay" being the understatement of the year... he's been consistently our best DB this season. I know that's not saying much, but the dude has two picks and 2 defensive TDs this year. That's like three more picks than I remember the entire defense having last year.

If Gay misses the Atlanta game, we can kiss 9-5 goodbye

So what does that make Deon Figures? Chopped Liver???

Ever had a quad injury? I hurt both at once and was fine the next week. Gay finished the game. Only issue would be if he tore it and I don't think this is the case. Its tight so they gave him some extra rest . . .were gonna need him @ ATL!

Regarding William Gay...

My, how times change.

I was thinking the same thing. Before he left for Pitt West we would have cheered if "no play Willie Gay" got hurt. Now we are thinking oh no, our best CB is hurt.

Gay was never as bad as people made him out to be. Not his fault he was placed into poor matchups. Even now he should be the nickel back and not in the starting lineup.
