Ok Atlanta first... I know everyone is looking at their pass O and our secondary and getting all nervous... but maybe we should reverse that.. they are still 32nd in the league in pass d. they have a whopping 15 sacks. they jump routes, sure, but that is their only recourse. This is the kind of game the Oline should be able to give Ben time to use that pump fake to pull guys out of position and to really light it up... especially if they are playing up for Bell. I don't care if matty ice puts up 40 because the O really ought to be able to score at will this week, if they choose to attack that D

If we don't put up 50 and win tomlin shouldn't be allowed in Pittsburgh again.

I wouldn't care if they won 7 - 6. At this point style points don't matter. Wins do. It's not the NCAA where 59 - 0 gets you in and 52 - 3 keeps you out.

obviously we'll run dump-off plays to Johnson 4-5 times.

32nd in pass d means we could even see 5-WIDE *******.

don't joke about that, that's been our game plan the past few seasons when playing a bad team on the road, be safe as possible on O.

the cool thing is that Steelers now possess a power running game, a set of WRs to take advantage of same, and a wisened QB who might be able to take advantage.

Or Foster/Adams could **** the bed, Ben will get clobbered by a **** DL and the Steelers will struggle and lose a close one.

I'm optimistic, December football where it counts.....go Steelers!

Our O versus their D and vice versa this game could set an NFL all-time record for total points. Even so, I still think we lose based on our recent track record of inability to beat teams with a losing record. If it ends up looking like a basketball score I wouldn't be shocked.

Atlanta is ranked last (32nd) in defending the pass based on yards allowed BUT has allowed the 5th fewest passing TDs. (very strange)

They also rank 21st in defending the run BUT allowed more rushing TDs than anyone in the league.

This ought to be interesting...though I hope it isn't!

That actually isn't that odd. they are an average run D, not really a good one. teams are traditionally more conservative in the red zone. its very easy to pass down the field into the 10, where the field tightens up. They do jump routes so teams probably are going to run more in a shortened field... It makes sense strategy wise, as would pounding it in with bell when we are close.

We actually have a legit shot at the #3 seed if we were to win out, and Indy lose one.

I think we need more Johnsons on the team, we have had more in the past.

No and I think there is something wrong with it, that's why it has always been called queer.

Although a few years ago we had I believe 3 guys maybe 4 named Johnson and it was a running joke in the vein (no pun intended) of the police academy movies.

Um why has the "lets talk about football instead of all the other near off season type threads on here thread" veered off of football... the team isn't great but it is still relevant in the NFL postseason landscape right now. In 08 we were an abysmal offense with a great defense and it came together for the playoffs... there is no reason why the defense cant rely on the offense this time through... it happens after all...

Three game season, we need to make those tackles for no gains, we need to make the hard catches to keep drives going and we need to score TD's. You would think the players after the last three years would be full bore in the next three, we need some leaders and some non names to step up. Lets go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Too true, a leader on the defensive side must emerge in these few weeks in Keisel's absence.
