That guy is a beast and wished like hell we would have traded for him and signed him.
Would have ended the Bushy experiment and allowed us to move on from that terrible mistake.
Roquan Smith would have been our answer at ILBer finally replacing Shazier.
The guy is a complete beast!

I will be interested if BAL can afford him after the season. I wish we could have worked out something with Chase to bring him in, but he's going to be pricey to sign.

Yeah, Smith is an UFA. Ravens have like 40 million in cap space but Lamar is a UFA and they’ll likely have to hit him with a 45m-50m franchise tag and Marcus Peters is an UFA as well. They could possibly get their cap down enough to sign Smith and tag Jackson but they unlikely sign Jackson before the start of free agency. So it could end up that Smith gets to test FA. Darius Leonard just got a tic under 20 million a year so we would probably have to be a little north of 20 million to get him.

I don’t. Would’ve given up a draft pick for an upcoming UFA ready for a big payday and still not make the playoffs.

He would have been a nice addition for half a season, but BAL will make the PO, we will not. No reason to bring him just to see him walk and lose multiple picks.

We can't pay probowl salaries along the whole Defense, we already have Watt, Minkah and Heyward. We need to develop youth at rookie contracts and keep finding gems like Wallace and Kazee.

It would not have made one Iota of a difference… not one bit… the issue with our Ilbs is all scheme… we play a hybrid cover 2 or 3 most plays with a 3/4 look up front but we ask the dl to penetrate and get pressure rather than eat blocks and want both ilbs to basically play safety 90% of the time… also if their wr or oc was stupid enough to either run too deep on that comeback or design it like that to pull smith right into the path of the football, im pretty sure most Ilbs would have picked that…

I really don't think some of you get the big picture at all. Roquan Smith is a FA next year. Does Roquan Smith play left tackle, QB, WR, or running back. You could put Reggie Friggen White in his prime on this team and its not a contender. You would get more entertainment if they traded, but that is it. No closer to where you want them to be.

Ok let’s stop with any one player making this outfit a contender or he’s a FA next year.
I get all that but this player would fill a need that will have to be addressed next year because we don’t have a player of that caliber on this team.
We don’t have a franchise QB salary to contend with and the cap is going up significantly next year and I’m saying if we could have traded for Smith and signed him, that’s one less worry for next year.
Yes, we need a LT,LG, CB, DL and slot receiver which can be addressed in the draft and FA but now we have to add an ILBer. That’s all I’m saying.
And if Tomlin and Austin can’t scheme with Smith then they shouldn’t be here.

If we keep wj 3 at his current contract we will barely have the cap space to resign our ufas much less add stars… even if they waive him, we aren’t going to be swimming in loot…

Spending salary cap/contract money on WJ3 over Smith would be failed strategy…unfortunately Smith cost more in draft capital than we could pay

Now if we could’ve worked Bush and Claypuff for Smith, we’d be cooking with gas assuming they had the ability to extend Smith

A Tomlin defense isn’t a Tomlin defense until there are first rounders at a minimum of 8 positions and he needs a first rounder to replace his last first round bust

Just as a Tomlin offense isn't a Tomlin offense until there are 8 first rounders, including a Hall of Famer at QB. Though, as much as we complain about the defense, they've allowed 20 points or less in 8 of 13 games this season. This team needs to build on offense.

From this point in the season to the last game the Steelers should suit up Mark Robinson to see if he has learned anything since Training Camp. We've got to see if he can be a guy who can step in and start or is he just another guy? I think Mark Robinson can be a special player for the Steelers at ILB. The guy is an absolute physical monster!

Thanks to get the light out in the open on this. I did NOT want to trade or obtain Smith due to this fact.

We already have the highest “wasted” defense in the league, we don’t need to continue adding to the cost To prove the scheme is NOT working.

And the truth is he will not even get a helmet for one game cause that is the way coolshades operates. Always.

Agreed about Mark Robinson. They should hire Shazier to be his coach and trainer.

Robinson should be hatted and situationally off the field of play. Who sits in his place ? How about one less STs ACE ?
