The Pittsburgh Steelers come off of a much-needed bye week against a banged up Cleveland Browns team. Steeler Nation has felt the heat of Browns fans since that ugly matchup on Wild Card Weekend last season. This game is a huge one for everyone in Pittsburgh.
This is the week Cleveland has been waiting for. The mouths of the fans have been running—but let’s not pretend Pittsburgh hasn’t been waiting eagerly for this one either. They have a bitter taste in their mouth. This will be the Steelers’ first opportunity to get back over .500 since their Week 3 loss. With a rough stretch of games inching closer, the Steelers simply can’t afford to lose this one.
Without further delay…
The Browns get Nick Chubb and a couple of guys on the offensive line back this week. Their backup running back D’Ernest Johnson had a huge game in Denver. With Kareem Hunt out, Johnson will likely spell Chubb this week. The Steelers’ run defense has been very spotty. With Baker Mayfield injured, the Browns will need the ground game to take some heat off of him. Will the Steelers stop the lethal ground attack?

If there’s one way to cool off a hot offense, it’s to make them sit down for a while. The Steelers are improving on offense and starting to sustain move drives. This not only helps their chances of scoring, but it also gives the defense a rest. This is a strategy that has to happen to give themselves a chance. Will they do it?

Last year when Mayfield had an injured rib cage, the Steelers defense took advantage. This year, Mayfield comes in with a torn labrum and fractured shoulder. This was rough enough to have him sit last week but was cleared to play this week. Not only do the Steelers need to limit the ground game, but they also have to pressure Mayfield.

Just mentally prepare yourself. Everyone and their damn mother will make it a point to remind them of the proudest Cleveland sports moment since their NBA title.

We need some consistency from Chase Claypool. He is a playmaker and a physical freak of nature. One week he makes all of the plays presented to him. The next… not so much.
