We all know Ben is gone after this season. I was just hoping he'd have one or two more great performances to see him off.

That was a GREAT ******* performance.

second half Ben performance far outweighed first half Ben performance

The first half was not his fault as he had no chance to even get rid of the ball.

And they're damn lucky he caught all of those ****** snaps. Second half Ben was lights out.

Legendary comeback. Basically drove the team 96 yards without a comeback if not a great play by Smith to knock the ball away. If anyone showed half the passion he showed last night the Steelers win.

He's had several great second halves. Why? Because Canada is calling his shitshow in the first half. When Ben finally gets to take over with the limited no-huddle or muddle offense they can run after Canada neutered the no-huddle/hurry-up offense, he plays lights out. He can still sling it all over the field when given the chance. He is still our best chance to win every week. Canada and Tomlin should have realized that and should have implemented something that works for this team and the players we have by now. The season is almost over and the dumpster fire continues on O and D.

The guy rallied the team after that interception.

I agree last night was a gift watching the best QB in Steelers history try to lead us back in what would have been a miracle comeback. Likely the last chance we get to witness anything like it out of Ben.

It's also a double edged sword. I don't get upset at Steelers losses in themselves anymore. I've grown accustomed to the new standard. What does upset me is last night showed how with Ben we've absolutely wasted the last 10+ years of a magnificent career by sticking with a piece of crap coach that should have been **** canned years ago. This team never scratched the surface of what they should have accomplished. Thank you Coach Dumbass Coolshades.

How many times would you have to see that as the HC before you said Matt it's not working out. And just get someone to help Ben organize the plays. Like anyone really believe Byron Leftwich is calling tge plays for Tom Brady at this point. I sure as **** do not.

Yeah, I get that every fan rags on head coaches when the team struggled, but just too damn many of the same problems, over and over again, that can be traced to bad preparation and bad team culture, two things that the coaches actually control.

"Oh, it's the players. Tomlin did not [fill in blank of ****** player effort here]."

Yeah? How about preparation, the players wandering around, uncertain where to be for formations, the play clock winding down, the delay of game penalties, the blown timeouts because the clock winds down - coaching.

The taunting penalty, the celebrating on making a play when down 29-7, the lack of effort by some who still remain the game - coaching.

As just an observing fan, this would seem to be the case, and it occurs on a weekly basis. Why it's allowed to continue falls on Mr. Rooney.

He has another year left in him. But not with this offensive line

To be honest, next season the line should be much better… two years from now it could be beastly if moore develops like AV did with speed rushes and green bulks up a bit… it would be nice if they got a stud Rt or guard in here to be the centerpiece though… but outside of green getting bullrushed most of our issues are proper reads and fundamental execution…

It would have been one for the ages if 'Muth could have held on. Even so...Big Ben displayed a Champion's mentality and should always be considered one of the all-time greats. I can't thank him enough for all his years of greatness and the life-long memories he has given me.

I'm sure Muth feels like **** right now. Tough catch but one he knows he should have had.

For them to even be in the position was ******* amazing. I'm just happy with how they played late.

The defense held the Vikes to what? 28 yards in the 3rd? That's ******* great. I can only assume some adjustments were made. And I'm happy for that. If the Vikes don't get a miracle catch and TD in the 4th, the Steelers may have just pulled this one out. But even though they didn't quite make it... what a ******* game!

Agreed.

That's why he is going to be a very good player. Much rather have Creed Humphrey, but that decision is not Muth's doing.

Meanwhile, Claypool feels like he did nothing wrong in meandering around after catching a 13-yard pass with 1:25 to go and then wasting time with his little "look at me" **** with the clock winding down.

I think that more and more, we see that talent matters, but that innate desire to win, that driving force that makes us refuse to give in, matters a lot more than we might suspect in making a winning team. Some teams have that winning culture, Steelers certainly used to. Now? Yeah, some, not all.

Najeh Harris and Ben would eat broken glass to win a game; Chase Claypool would not eat an onion because "it gives me bad breath."

Again, I quote Hines Ward...

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.

Absolute 100% example of a guy whose effort was as important as his talent.

I think Ben returned, thinking 2021 might be like 2005, after the devastating loss to the Pats**** in the 2004 AFC Championship game. The difference is that 2005 team had guys like Ward, Bettis, Miller, Farrior, Polamalu, and Aaron Smith - guys who would cross a minefield. The current roster has too many guys who care more about looking good than winning games.

Yes Byron does call the plays. Brady said in an interview that he meets with Byron Leftwich daily and weekly to come up with a game plan. He said he trust the play calls and does have input, they also putting together in the audibles. Amazing, a partnership and calling plays. Not to mention many teams have a run game coordinator, Pittsburgh? Crickets

Yes it was and I wonder how many other quarterbacks could've kept their cool after that horrific half and played like that in the 2nd?

Absolutely...Wonder why we only have a small few that play like that now?

Well, take a look at the glaring difference right now between the 2021 Steelers and the 2005 Steelers.

In 2005 the team was loaded with a number of veterans who had been together for a very long time. On the offense alone you had Ward, Bettis, Randle El, Faneca, Max Stark, I think Hartings had been there awhile. Defensively you had Porter, Troy, Clark, Smith, Von Oelhoffen, (Did we still have Snack?) Farrior, Ike... I mean there were a LOT of guys who had been there together a LONG time and fought in the trenches together.

And then you had a virtual rookie QB who felt so bad he PROMISED Bettis he'd "get him to the Superbowl next year".

Who are the "grizzled veterans" on the team to support Old man Ben? The most experienced guy on the offensive line has what? 4 years? The currently longest-tenured receivers are Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool. The two starting TEs include a rookie and a guy who's been there 2 years now? Maybe 3?

They lost the running back who'd been there for awhile and now they have a rookie and a 3rd year guy.

Defensively, they have Heyward and Haden (who's been there what? 5 years? 6?) Watt's amazing but he's in his 3rd or 4th year. Minkah is in his 4th year I think...

Point is, there is no team history, no battle-tested loyalty for the players to commit themselves to Ben Roethlisberger. He's just some old man who doesn't like music blared in the locker room.
