You will never convince me that you don't need 3 big uglies on the DL when running a 3-4. It just doesn't work against good running teams. We need a big NT to take on double teams. You can't rely on 2 OLB's who are 50+ pounds lighter than the OL to get things done. They can rush the passer but stopping the run is another story.

Heyward had a great year but he is done after this coming year. Benton is OK. Ogunjobi will be a cap cut as he just can't get the job done anymore. Everyone else are barely better than PS players.

Our 1st round pick MUST be a DL. We also MUST double dip and take another DL with our 3rd round pick. A starting WR must be snagged in the 2nd round with the hopes Roman will play next year. I am not sold they will offer GP a contract this offseason so he will probably hold out. They must solidify the DL like they did with the OL and then build from there.

And to be honest, I think we may see some serious trades happening if they decide to blow this thing up and rebuild instead of retool. This team with Tomlin as the coach has no chance to compete for a SB. If Rooney still can't see that then we will be dealing with this for a long time.

The way things blew apart the last 5 games, I see no way they resign Wilson. Keep Fields if you are going to keep either one. This team is not going to win anything in the next 2 or 3 years so why bother trying to keep a 37 year old QB.

Tonight one more showed Smith could be a good oc but sure looks as if Tomlin holds him down till we have to do sonething. Look at first half then second half calls were allowing Wilson to throw on not just third and long. Lost four straight and this team showed no emotion, no physical play, out coached outplayed. Steelers were not expected to win so why not come out and let it go whos cares had nothing to lose. A complet waste of first half. How is Tomlin not cause his game plan he is head coach

Doubt Fields will resign after how they did him with the benching for the Old washed midget.

GP definitely wants off this sinking ship.

This team will have too many holes to take 2 DL early when they rarely run more than a 2 DL set anyway

Expecting WR, DL (either order) then RB and CB (these could be flipped too) as first four picks

But all the great picks and solid free agents have n the world won’t matter unless…

And we know chicken **** dickwad Rooney won’t do that

Ya these 2 man d-lines against these running games get embarrassing we got embarrassed.

It's a loser design and only an idiot or someone intentionally trying to lose would keep running that crap year after year.

This stuff is now on the owner. If he's just dandy with this crap, then we're absolutely screwed. We'll the people shelling out tons of money, that have hope are the ones getting the shaft most.

There's no hope. Just Lucy&Charlie Brown football.

That's the problem. They run 2 DL sets. That hasn't worked. They must go back to a true 3-4. We need a big NT to man the middle, take on double teams and push the pocket back. Those sets where they have 2 DL split pretty wide and then the 2 OLB's out even wider DO NOT work. There are too many lanes in the middle for a RB like Henry (or any decent RB) to run right through and get to the 2nd level. What Tomlin insists on running hasn't worked for years. Why he can't see that is mind boggling.

Also, every analyst said the Steelers needed to run the type of zone they had previously run so successfully against Lamar. Last night, they ran mostly man coverage. We aren't built to do that and it leaves tons of room for Lamar to run. There was a reason they ran the QB option so much last night with Lamar having a field day. He had 81 yards and most were in the first quarter and first half.

There are guys in this draft who would fit the role quite well too...at least I think there are. Think about this, a defense with Heyward, Watt, Highsmith, Herbig as a No. 3 EDGE, JPJ, Minkah, Elliott, Queen, Roberts, Wilson just got absolutely toasted over the final month of the season. Flores is running a very good defense without this type of talent. In no way are these guys put in the best position to succeed. In a sense, the defense is a bigger problem than the offense because there is more talent on that side of the ball.

You available to take over for Mike?

You definitely seem to have more coherent thoughts than the shaded one.

Since snack left and we moved to a base 2-4-5 from a true 3-4 the D has been sus more often than not

TDX I’d add telling your best defensive weapon to forego contain and solely focus on Henry was poor strategy as is not moving around your best defensive weapon to increase his impact.

Take away his instincts and playmaking ability🤦🏻‍♂️

Mediocre Mike handicapping both sides of the ball.

Why even have and pay a guy like Watt if that’s how you deploy him? Preston could’ve done that role and flip Watt inside with the ability to come through multiple gaps. Many strategies would’ve been better than the one deployed last night.

I think there is more than enough talent on the team to not blow it up. I think you can get rid of a couple of the higher paid guys no longer producing and bring in a few through the draft and FA to get the team closer. The team has a lot of young talent, but needs a coaching staff that can develop it and actually use it. Tomlin needs a change of scenery and so do the players. I think he has lost the vets that have never won a playoff game. There is no guarantee a new guy won't be worse, but I think the team has gone as far as it will under Tomlin.

If you are going to blow anything up at this point, I'd say it has to be the coaching staff starting with Tomlin. Bring in a younger defensive minded guy (like Cower and Tomlin) and let him build out his staff with people he will allow to do their jobs without constantly micro managing.

I'm not sure about Smith. I don't know how much of the offense being terrible the last five games was mostly because of Smith, Wilson, or Tomlin. The offense needs more weapons, but they have a lot more talent than what they used. Why the TEs were not used more, especially Washington, along with Williams down the stretch is unknown. Even Muth was barely used some games. When all you do on offense is run the ball up the middle, throw lateral passes to the sideline, or throw deep balls down the sideline, it's not going to be hard to defend. Tomlin needs to realize there is an entire football field between that can be used to run football plays.

I can't see Watt, Highsmith, Heyward, and Minkah being on the team together much longer and maybe not even this year. Too much cap going to them. Watt is probably due for a restructure. Could they or would they trade one of these guys?

On O, GP is due for a huge contract. Do they do it this offseason or wait and have him possibly hold out? I would try to sign him now and then see if anyone wants to trade for him. A few years ago when teams were desperate for WR talent, we would have easily gotten a 1st for him along with other compensation. Now, we'd probably give him away for a 3rd. If it were me, I wouldn't trade him unless we got a 1st.

This offseason will have a lot of changes. The D is not elite and really is barely average. They can't sign anyone worthwhile with the cap already being spent on the D. That's why they MUST use their 1st round pick on DL and the 2nd round pick on WR. Those are our top needs. I also feel we need to get a 2nd DL in the 3rd round or 4th at the very latest. We need a new DL coach as well.
