I think that frees up 5 mil.

Best wishes Zach I liked you...

I guess he didn't want to take a huge pay cut. Schobert is next if he doesn't take a huge cut.

72 is tackle eligible, for another team.

Someone ****** this headline up.

With this cut and hopefully the overpriced Schobert next we can sign Myles Jack and the Honey Badger. That would be sweet!
Then do something with Tuitt situation! Cut him, trade him but do something. Just don’t think you can rely on him come training camp. Don’t think his heart is in it any longer.

Releasing Schobert would leave us around 15-20 million in cap space left. Enough for at least one of those guys, not sure if we could get both though unless there's some restructures.

I am a big Notre Dame fan and I love Tuitt. I was beyond happy when they drafted him. However. with that said, the front office has to know either way before the draft if he is coming back or not. I hope he comes back healthy both mentally and physically.

I believe he was the highest priced offensive player on the roster prior to free agency… that is absurd since they never used him even when healthy last year

Unfortunate that he got hurt and never really recovered. I remember feeling horrible for him when he finally got his chance and piled up. However, with modern medical and surgery techniques he must have had a very poor recovery. 1 year from the giants opener he should have been good.

Word (rumor) was that while in the pre-camp stages of rehabbing from the ACL, he was focused and dedicated to his diet, strengthening exercises, etc. As camp, and eventually, the season, went on and he wasn't able to come back, his discipline faltered and he gained weight ... putting more strain on the ACL and retarding his full recovery.

Makes sense

troymmania, I agree with you a 100%. The loyalty the Steeler organization showed to Tuitt was classy and he probably needed. it.

I know it is a business, but it would be great for Tuitt to make a statement NOW as to his intentions.

Beyond the draft, the front office should pursue moving Tuitt’s roster bonus to his 2022 salary and if he refuses, release him. They shouldn’t just assume Tuitt will be committed and be able to play at his 2020 level. They need to be prepared to move on without him and not be financially exposed.

I liked Banner but he's hardly played in two years.

Did they play the sad hulk music as he slowly walked away?

Okay, time for one degree of separation based on that show. The Incredible Hulk TV series featured an actor named Jack Colvin, who played the abrasive investigative reporter seeking the truth about Dr. Banner, the Hulk when calm. I worked with a transcriber at a law firm who was Colvin's significant other at the time, 1992 or 1993. She invited me and my wife over to her house for dinner one night, with Colvin present.

She made goulash, which was good, but co-worker and Colvin chain-smoked. Co-worker also had like 5 cats in the house. Wife and I could hardly wait to get out of there.

You know I will personally offer myself up to be the guy who doesn't play at all this year. A two year 3.2 million dollar deal would be fine. I'll even go train at the gym 6 days a week 2 hours a day.

I'm ready to be that guy.
