We have a new leader in the clubhouse as the biggest Tomlin homer,

I remember Ben’s rookie year and I was on the Steeler’s sideline prior to the game. Ben comes jogging over to the bench to retrieve his helmet and he’s maybe 10 feet away from me.
Seriously, he looked like Paul Bunyan. The guy was ******* huge at about 6’6” 270 lbs. Massive dude!
Those were fun days getting sideline passes.
I had passes to be on the field at Latrobe in 05, they were doing 11 v 11 drills he rolled out and Haggans was chasing him, Ben just missed steam rolling me, I should've stepped in front of him and got trucked, but yeah he was huge, and could really move

That’s a tough way to get introduced to the big guy.
I miss Big Ben!

No coaches fired yet. Not even OL coach Pat Meyer. Maybe they are waiting to see if Arthur Smith gets a HC job. It would make sense for a new OC to hire the new OL coach. But Meyer still should have been fired by now just so he can find a new job.

What a joke if they don't replace any coaches but it wouldn't be a surprise.

Meyer needs to go for no other reason that they have an underperforming unit based on the investment in free agents and draft picks. There is individual talent along the offensive line, but it doen't show up in the stats.

That 8-8 team was year removed from a Super Bowl.

That 8-8 team had a future HOF QB entering prime years.

That 8-8 team had several HOF players on it.

That 8-8 team, more likely than not, would have 2 (conservative # ) more Lombardis.

Sorry, Coach Tomlin has only built what is commonly known as Groundhog Day in most circles.

Salute the nation
Moats was mid as a Steeler gets on his very bestest day he ever had…and that mid player was way more of a player than he is a football analyst

His opinions are like a Tomlin gameplan…boring and lacking common sense

All I can say is three things.
1. Sign me up for a losing season or two.
2. Why does Moats owe fidelity. He came there to start and barely saw the field.
3. If he is getting the most out of a ****** roster then someone else needs firing. Am I wrong?

Oftentimes the best talkers were not the best players, Moats is an example of that.

The odds are against this. I’m sure you have heard of the “Never a losing season” Coach………
I’m with yaz though if would speed up the exit strategy.

This has been my wonderment as well, Moats who ????

I’ve said many times in the past, “Tomlin gets the least, out of the most”.

You'll keep all your coaches, take your .500 season and like it sir. Now, no back talk.

Has Art not taken a look around at his franchise and the path they remain on: Pure futility, pure circus act, pure failure. Look at the last dozen or so draft picks: the 1st round picks, other than Watt and and Heyward, complete rubbish.

Fautanu - OT, complete unknown if he turns out.
Jones - Forced to switch natural LT, another Fraudlin failed move.
Pickett - QB, a complete Rooney and Fraudlin miss, costing team 5-10 years.
Najee Harris - RB, Mostly a miss, skill could have been found in the 3rd or 5th. Drafted as a Henry, turned out to be Trent Richardson.
Chase Claypool WR (taken 2nd round) - A complete waste of a player.
Devin Bush - LB, waste of time.
Edmunds - S, 3d rounder at talent at best.
Watt - LB, great pick, finally.
Artie Burns - CB, worthless.
Bud Dupree - LB, vastly a no one
Shazier -LB, got hurt
Jarvis Jones, LB, another no one

Is there any wonder we are where we are? That's a sh-- list of 1st rounders.

Just to be clear, those aren't just poor draft picks, every team has a list of those, those are FIRST-round picks (except for Chase who was a 2nd rounder because he was our top pick that year). Those are the last dozen 1st round draft picks, the last dozen of them. What a horrid lot. Between Tomlin and Colbert, what horrible draft picks, just horrid. The last dozen years have been God-awful.

DEs didn't have trouble getting him to the ground for nothing!

Unfortunately it also made refs reluctant to ever call roughing the passer. HE got hosed many times due to his size. Hell he got puched in the nose and it was broken with no call. Let that happen to Brady and they arrest him on the field.

Getting punched in the nose was never OK by the officials. They simply missed the call. The fact Ben could just brush off wanna be tacklers, and keep a play going was his strength.

they missed a lot of roughing calls because he shrugged guys off. That doesn't mean they shouldn't have been called. He had a bloody crooked nose. How do you miss that? there is no legal way for that to happen in the position he was in. Yes, it was his strength, but it also cost him with the officials.

I'm not a Tomlin hater. But at this point, it wouldn't bother me if he was fired. But since I know he won't, I don't waste any mental energy on it. I don't understand fans who make it a crusade. What do they hope they'll accomplish??
Quick, name the other head coaches who kept their jobs after 8 years of not winning a single playoff game. Name all you know.

One could also say the same for Teryl Austin and all the money committed to the defense.

Rooney must be fine with ****** return on investments.

Cam Newton suffered the same thing

Big athletic QBs don’t get the protection the wusses and midgets get

As I said in another thread, it is kind of remarkable the Steelers manage to win even as much as they do, considering all the fail high in the draft over the past decade.

Some will attribute it to "Tomlin getting the most out of his teams," which is fine until one acknowledges he was a partner in crime as it relates to those high draft picks.

I tend to think it more reflects how the few first rounders they have hit on in Heyward and Watt have carried the team than anything else, especially considering the futility on the offensive side of the ball for years now.

They're both HOF caliber players and deserve better.

True they missed a lot of roughing calls but ya also can’t have it both ways.

How pissed would’ve we all been had they blown the whistle and called they play dead “in the grasp” when we all knew he was about to shake off the defender and bust a big play 80-90% of the time.

It’s a hard tightrope for the unqualified and weak refs to walk. They struggle with the basics much less the discretionary calls.

I fully agree with yaz Fiji, but flip that coin and tell me how great their calls seem to be when Mahomes is in the equation.

Part of Ben’s “non-calls” were roger Godell instilled. I’m sure he said hey, let the boys play hard.

In Patric’s case…………. Protect the face of the NFL and while we’re at it,……… let’s get him to a Super Bowl….

Salute the nation

Are you saying they witnessed Ben being struck in the face and ignored it? Wow.

100% Patrick is a floppin’ looking for flags every time he gets hit pussssssy

He doesn’t break tackles and extend plays, he goes down easier than a $5 hooker and then HIS bought and paid for refs throw flags from every angle to protect Rog’s golden boy under an obvious league directive.

Troystrodamus saw this pussification of the league years ago and it keeps getting worse.

Don Shula wasted nearly all of Marino's career. Their OL was not very good, they never had a run game. They had OK receivers but I think it was Marino that made Duper and Clayton what they were. None of it mattered. Marino himself meant Miami had one of the better offenses in the league every year.

You would think all you'd have to do is just keep drafting defense and win multiple Super Bowls. You didn't even need a top defense, just one good enough to hold the opponent to about 24 points.
