I think Preston Smith will be a difference maker in this Defense.

Guy is durable and was consistently productive in the 3/4. I think they got a steal getting him for a 7th. The Packers just wanted to honor the Steelers we don’t want hostages mantra.
 
They both sound very positive and upbeat.

Both claiming they will fit right in and I can see that easily.

Both talk about the system, Smith should be good to go and Williams said it’s all the same just different language. He said he would work hard on understanding where he needs to be. Also indicated he should be good from the get-go.

I am pretty happy with this deal(s), very cost effective and good players for the immeadiately season of need.

Williams is no Pickens, but could fill that contested catch role in a pinch

Smith lets them allow Herbig get 100% before playing him and kept him away from the Ravens... who will have to keep blitzing late to generate pressure...

Smith probably will be better depth against the run game than herbig, I think this is a big plus to keep them fresh

Definitely would rotate Smith in more against those run heavy teams. They had every bit of intention to have two capable backups but that plan went sideways. Not only did they secure a guy capable of that he is pass rush capable. Just a damn good under the radar pickup.

It’s like when a hockey team gets a winger that can score for the 2nd line

It’s nice when ya can strut your 2nd line out there and still threaten

I think he’ll prove to be an asset moving forward and may even exceed expectations.
 
Both guys saying all the right things on arrival

This team just keeps looking deeper and deeper, and with the depth stacking up like it is those late picks will lucky to be ps players anyways.

May as well shoot for a few playoff wins and strike while the pieces seem to be in place.

True, and the price seems very value +. His play will dictate his value moving forward. I could see a reasonable 2yr contract out of this.

Herbig can't get healthy after bye. He hurt thing bad. Clearly they knew this when tgey made deal.

Hopeful that happens, but like many I can’t fully drink the kool aid until we get over that first playoff win hurdle. This team is just starting to feel a little different. Maybe it’s that we’re outta the KP cloud and I can actually envision the possibilities now?

Should we get over that first playoff win hurdle anything is possible as we are more than due and we have a few guys that should be pretty damn hungry by now, it’s time they eat! Just need to keep the momentum rolling and peak at the right time.
 
Translated better: Herbig is still out this week. Slash predicted this when the trade happened. His injury is worse then a standard hamstring strain. It's been like 6 weeks
