Thoughts on this Quarterback class

Just wanted to add

Kordell Siewert was a way way better QB of the two, to come out of Colorado.

Stewert’s career stats, overwhelming better in every category, yet his JERSEY isn’t retired……………

Salute the nation

Isn't that absurd? A retired jersey for being the son of a great player. How embarrassing and pathetic.

There will be a DL or RB the Steelers have 1st round grades on even if there is a run on them. Kiper actually has Sanders as the No. 1 QB in the draft. I also saw Dart go ahead of Sanders in a mock that had 3 QB's go before our pick at 21. If Sanders falls to 21, they will take him. I still think they will do something stupid and trade up for Sanders or even Dart.
See, this feels like the Pickett draft all over again

I dont fault a team for drafting a qb high... I also realize this draft has better prospect depth at other positions of high need...

What i will fault a team for is moving up at a premium cost to draft a guy they arent sure about who busts... thats how you set yourself back years... ala Bush...

I agree, but do you see Tomlin passing on Sanders if he falls to 21?

If I am Kahn and Sanders falls to 22, (assuming they didnt draft a qb at 3oa, Id call the Giants and tell them I am drafting him next pick unless they cough up their second and third round picks for our first... there are more than 34 first round types in this draft, and at 34 I bet we can get a great DL prospect, then at the top of the 3rd get the developmental qb we want...

Drafting a first round qb might save the giants GM's job for a little bit, so he may overpay

Now this is if you dont think Sanders is a true franchise type...

If he falls to 22, then we already drafted someone and Khan can't do anything else at that point...

You have to realize what the Steelers want in a franchise QB is different than what other teams want, Sanders doesn’t turn the ball over, that’s 90% of the equation for Tomlin.

Agree!!!!!

Add in the obscure disrespect to the players before him. The3 NFL has this syndrome too in how the voting is incurred at various accolades.

Miles’s Garret won a DPOY award on a stat that isn’t even official.

I'm seeing quite a few mock drafts taking Jalen Milroe at 21 for the Steelers. Dan Orlovsky was talking about it as well. Does anyone think this is a real possibility?

I see any QB drifted by the Steelers in the first, especially if they trade up, as a repeat of the Pickett pick based on perceived talent this year. I'm hoping they don't draft a QB in the first, or third this year. I'd be fine with someone like Ewers in a later round. If they do pick a QB early, I'm leaning towards Dart and not Sanders on my wish list.

Living in Utah, I was able to read plenty about Dart his senior year of high school. He played in the highest and toughest classification and won the state championship. His numbers that year were insane with just under 70% completions, 4691 yards passing, 67 TDs and only 4 INTs. He also rushed for 1,195 yards and 12 TDs. At Ole Miss as a senior, he completed 69% of his passes for 4,279 yards with 29 TDs and 6 INTs. Over his last two years at Ole Miss, he threw 52 TDs and 11 INTs. If anything, I like that he does not turn the ball over a lot. The guy is confident and wants to win with the ability to back that up in the locker room and on the field. Round 1 might be high for him, but I think he has a high ceiling

They better not draft one of these QBs or RBs at 21. They need to prioritize DL and take either Grant, Nolan or Harmon with their pick.
Get your RB in the 3’rd round.
Here’s an idea! See if we can fetch a late second round pick for Highsmith and move off that salary. Slot Nick Herbig in there and with that second take your RB and with the third draft your edge rusher for depth.
Far too much money spent on defense with little to show.
Fourth round pick up your clipboard holding QB.
Next year draft your QB in the first round.
Sign a veteran QB after the draft to back up Mason. Bridgewater, Wentz!

I'm in favor of the team tanking and going after a higher pick to get a possibly better QB next draft in order to move the team forward quicker long-term. However, that would mean an end to the non-losing streak, which Tomlin won't go for since he's already getting blasted by a lot of fans and more media every year the lack of playoff success continues. His only saving grace right now for many after so many disappointing endings to seasons is the non-losing streak. It's also hard to justify tanking with the highest paid defense in the league. I suspect that if the team can get Rodgers to sign, and all looks good early on with Rodgers at QB, the team will go all in to try and win the 7th Lombardy this season or next.

They won’t tank you’re right.

They can still go all in for a top QB in 2026 which they should do. There isn’t a top QB in 2025, not even Ward in my opinion.

Hopefully they will be disciplined and not reach for a QB in round 1, but with Tomlin having the final say it’s totally possible

With even the 41 year old washed up narcissist Rodgers, this team has ZERO chance to win a SB this season or next.
The best I can see is another non losing season with him.
Remember what Art’s brother said…. The team is above the average of the league’s teams.

My thought is you could go as deep as at least Howard and it still a bit of a guess as to which one will be best. This is very much the Kenny Pickett class. Take BPA at a position of need in 1st. If you have to spend a little capital to get a QB in the third you like more then the others do what you gotta. Take another one in the first next year. Without doubt you need a long term QB. If this years one in the third is the one.....you can always trade next year's first. Just for God's sake dont reach in the first this year.

I think this is a better QB class than the Pickett class, there were still the same typical QB hungry teams as there always is year to year, and Pickett was still the first QB off the board at 20. While it's not 04, it's not as abysmal as '22. Pickett was the first off the board like I mentioned, and then there was not another QB taken until round 3, when 3 came off the board. You'll likely see at least 2 off the board in the first and 2 in the second this year.

And just like in 22, teams that needed a QB were Houston, NYJ, Carolina, Atlanta, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Denver, and Pittsburgh, were plenty.

Which QB would have a first round grade in a regular quality draft class? Ward......doubt it. To me to have a first round QB you need the physical tool and production against quality competition. Don't see it.

There’s a QB in this draft class who was a high pedigree guy coming out of high school, played on a premier program against top competition, threw for 349 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT at Alabama, 246/3/0 at Michigan, 452/4/1 vs. Oklahoma St, 289/4/1 vs. Oklahoma, 369/1/0 vs. Washington, 333/5/0 vs. Florida, 322/3/1 vs. Arizona St, and 283/2/1 vs. national champion Ohio St, and yet is considered an afterthought.

IMO, he will have the best NFL career out of this entire QB class.

I was listening to Williamson this morning. He talked about RAS. I heard that talked about before, and never really knew, or cared what it meant. However, he said with Khan running the show, the Steelers drafts have had the highest overall RAS score at 9.1. He said it is something you have to consider if you are thinking about who the Steelers may draft.

Tyler Shough is above 9. He really likes the kid.

If Tennessee takes Hunter, I can see Browns taking Sanders at #2. They'll do it for the pub if nothing else, they are that dumb, and they'll think they'll get his dad as some kind of quasi coach. Maybe even entice him to leave Colorado mid-season.

This made me chuckle...

Deion just signed a multi-year contract to STAY w/ the Buffs. No way he's leaving mid-season.

Also, do not be surprised if Milroe is selected before Sanders.
