Welcome to Draft day 2025

Tomlin is a kid on Christmas Day, he will never trade down. Another one of his faults.
Who was there that met position of need and value, that was likely to still be on the board if the Steelers traded down? Hampton went immediately after the Steelers pick, Harmon was the last first round worthy DLine on the board and may not have been around if the Steelers traded down, and if you think Dart was first round worthy, they wouldn't have got him with a trade below 24, and Giants may have traded further up if the Steelers did trade back to 24. I can't really see anybody else left on the board at a position of need that was worth sacrificing Harmon for.

There are still DT on the board. Maybe the Steelers did try to trade down but the fact that they never do under Tomlin suggests that it’s not popular with him. It should be especially when they have so many needs.

Some solid RBs left and I like Howard more than most.

Saying that they will probably pick a RB in 3 and then a QB in 4.
RB and DL were the obvious top needs based on the pre-draft process. There could be a run in RBs but if there isn’t I feel confident that’s their next pick.

I agree. There was a run on potential options and the rest of the players just weren’t a need or good value.

Safety Nick E. in my opinion s the best pick left. Hopefully Cleveland doesn't pick

So basically we got Harmon in the 1st and Metcalf in the second. Get a QB in the third and sign Chubb or Dobbins.
Signing Chub or Dobbins as a 1 or 2 year rental is probably a good idea considering we still have so many needs. This move is even more important if they draft a QB in the 3rd. Warren is not a bell cow back. He is a tandem back.

So, today could be the day we see if GP gets traded. This is the biggest time slot for that to happen followed by the trade deadline during the season. No trade today means we should at least get to see GP and DK play together for part of the season.

Yep, and he can get hurt in week 1. I hope theres a solid RB in round 3 and we go that route.

They scored 40...

The team with the most points at the end of an NFL game wins...
Way to ignore the rest of my comment... They build the trenches, they overwhelmed the Chiefs OL with only 4 guys. They controlled the LOS all game, with the trenches. That's what allowed them to score 40 pts and keep the chiefs from scoring 40 themselves

I mean, I like the idea of trading down and all, but the trade down opportunities were almost certainly the giants and Falcons and Harmon was the best DL option there that wasnt going to last till either of their picks... he was a good gamble rather than stockpiling picks

And WHO is going to develop this next QB?
The OC and most coaches are not the same guys who coached KP. Give them a chance. Not many teams have luck developing most QB's. Hell there are not 32 starting caliber QBs in the league.

I don’t understand you people that think trading GP makes sense. The ONLY positive to trading GP and then selecting a WR is a couple extra contract years, but then you risk him being a worse player. If you don’t then take a WR, you are back to where you were last year, filling a whole again @ WR2

Unfortunately, Pittsburgh doesn't pick in the 2nd. My hopes for QB are Dart or Milroe. I worry that they may be gone by our pick in the 3rd. Do you think Chubb and Smith will still be there? I hope so.

Theoretical trade.

With Cam Ward going number 1 there’s no room for Levis. There’s no upside of keeping him on the team. Would you trade a conditional 2026 pick for him. Maybe a 7th that could improve to a 4th with playing time. (Not likely to happen) We need two more quarterbacks on the roster so that takes care of one. Draft a guy on day 3 takes care of the other. Let the best start and move on with 2025.

I agree with this. Last year everyone was complaining we didn't get another receiver. Now we get one and people want to trade away Pickens. Pickens, Metcalf, and CAIII is pretty solid on paper. I get the issues with Pickens, but just seems pointless to trade him

Yep.

Trading Pickens would put them in the same exact situation at the WR position they were in last season with only one consistent threat.

I suppose one could argue that the Steelers should be looking beyond 2025 and building for the future, but that just isn't how they operate. If they were considering changing their approach in the regard and looking to the future, they wouldn't have traded for and paid Metcalf.

At 28, he's still at the top of his game, but isn't exactly early in his prime.

Trading Pickens would be a disaster, same as last year except 30 million in the hole for a 66/990 5td guy.
Makes me sick to think about.
Metcalf Better put up top 5 stats this year or the Steelers will look next level stupid.

Nobody is mentioning Roman Wilson among our WRs. I understand drafting a WR if the Steelers deal Pickens, otherwise they have more pressing needs.

I'm assuming that Shedeur Sanders will be gone by the time the Steelers pick in round 3.

If that's the case, then I wouldn't draft a qb until round 5 or later. I don't view Jalen Milroe as anything but a lottery ticket and we can do a lot better in round 3. Other than that, I don't see much difference in qbs that will go in round 7 to the ones that may go round 3.

Instead, they should just pick the best player available which certainly will not be a qb. I'd even go DL again if that's the BPA.
