Day 3 Steeler Picks

We know that answer. But instead of Cam and Benton maybe it will be Cam and DH who is more of a force IMO. Scheme still blows but maybe it can help swapping players for situational ball.

Sure hope so

Nayha seemed like even more of a luxury pick than Sawyer.

Don’t get me wrong, both guys could be assets…if used properly, which is always where the Steelers go off the rails.

Sure getting some run stoppers is great in theory, but unless the scheme changes they are just large sideline ornaments and a slight upgrade in the bench depth.

They just need more depth on the DL in general.

The run defense was just too dependent on a 35-year-old Heyward for much of the season.

For the first few months, there was a big difference in the run defense between when he was on the field and when he wasn't. By the end of the season, it seemed like he was wearing down, as they were getting gashed on the ground whether he was playing or not.

Benton really needs to take a step forward next season. He flashes talent, but really hasn't been consistent at all to this point.

I really wasn't surprised to see the Steelers double dip on DL in the draft. Not sure they can fully count on Heyward and Benton to anchor things up front based on how last season ended.

The boss said "we need more cowbell"

Another bonus of bolstering the DL is the Steelers don't have ILBs who like to take on blocks, particularly after they allowed Roberts to walk.

I got a feeling they are gonna get every bit of this kid's effort to be more then a backup. Watching his highlights he makes every throw and plays prostyle.

The other good news
When injured during his junior year in HS they said he was the best offensive coach on the team

Maybe he can teach Tomlin
Some Xs and Os

Someone has to

Better players would make Coach Tomlins conservative scheme, overall better.

They will still have to step up when the 2nd season begins due to the existing scheme being so 1st floor level.

Salute the nation

Shedeur Sanders threw for 4134 yards and 37 touchdowns. He rushed for negative 50 yards and scored 4 rushing touchdowns.

Will Howard threw for 4010 yards and 35 touchdowns. He rushed for 226 yards and scored 7 rushing touchdowns.

Shedeur Sanders is extremely accurate and led the nation in completion percentage at 74 percent. He is a pure pocket passer with great mechanics but lacks elite mobility. His ability to handle pressure and make quick reads will be key in the NFL.

Will Howard is a balanced quarterback with solid passing efficiency and the best rushing ability. His size at six foot four and 235 pounds makes him a durable option. His ability to operate in a structured offense gives him a strong NFL foundation.

Shedeur Sanders is the most polished passer.

Will Howard is a run first QB.

I copied the above. Thought it was interesting.

Sanders -50 yards and sacks are not talked about enough.
Howard wins a college championship and is MVP. Playing against top ranked teams.
Howard completion percentage was 73%. Yet all we hear about is Sanders 74%. Seriously.

Copied from whom? Howard run first? Ridiculous.

Re: Sanders rushing stats, those INCLUDE the yards lost on sacks.

The difference between these two guys is above the neck and in the chest.

Sawyer is big (6'4", 260 lbs.) and is going to be better at setting the edge and stuffing the run game than Herbig (240 lbs.). Somebody else noted that this draft - talented DT in Harmon, Sawyer, and Yahya Black - very clearly said, "No more getting run over."

Now about the 2 DL scheme ...

That’s the rub, if those three were on the roster last January they’d still play nickel vs. Baltimore’s 2-TE set with them watching on the bench.

I was having lunch at a bar when they picked Sawyer. The guy next to me said he was a GREAT pick for the Steelers. What's interesting though is he's a Michigan fan who hates OSU.

Calling me ridiculous?
Those stats confirmed by sports-reference.com
Which used the same methods on both players. Yards lost ON BOTH players.
Sanders sacked 42 times for a loss of 356 yards. The most in college football.
Will Howard 13 sacks for 80 yards lost.

call me or the stats ridiculous all you want. At least I went out found and confirmed the stats. Stats I found interesting.
What exactly did your lazy *** do? Besides bring absolutely nothing to the table.
And yes little simpleton. Before you go on and on,I realize sacks are a product of the OLine play. Any overview of Sanders play will also mention that he is at fault for many of those sacks taken. Simply just more information about both players.

Settle down, there, champ — you said you copied this from somewhere, was calling that source’s opinion that Howard is a run-first QB ridiculous.

I was also pointing out that unlike the NFL, sacks count against a QB’s rush yards in college.

youre just making friends left and right.

The instrument has yet to be invented that can measure my indifference to that remark.

Anywell, back to the 3rd day picks, I wonder if Sawyer has any chops playing inside and could become the Elandon Roberts type run-thumper.
