Oh my goodness, I remember how good Eric Green was even if for just a short time.

He was big / fast / and QBs used him in primary routes.





It seems the Steelers have forgotten how to use a TE properly, hopefully with the “loaded” roster, that memory comes back.

Remember when he got drafted. He sat out over $$$$ and did not play for 4 games I think. The next season he got suspended for drugs. When he hit it big in 93 he was unstoppable. Of course he held out after his big year in 93 and signed a one year deal so that he could be eligible for FA in 95. When he signed with Miami it was the biggest contract ever signed by a TE in history.
And after that…….I didn’t give a ****.
 
The craziest thing, his best season here, 1993, he caught 63 catches, 942 yards, and 5 TD's. Those numbers seem so pedestrian.

Funny, I just watched this last night, and I found the formations so archaic. Almost as bad as Tomlin's defensive formations today. :ROFLMAO:

He certainly was fun to watch in his short stint here.

Go find Steelers vs. Cowboys SB from the 70s. A couple things. A lot of the players look like they could be on a company softball team today. Many many guys at a modern gym are significantly larger.
The formations and plays in many cases are less complicated then the JV high school play book we use with my team. People always talk about Bradshaw calling his own plays. No kidding he ran 34 lead. And Pro Alert Divide. Listen to the mouthful of a modern NFL playcall.
 
**** check that. Bruenner was a good blocker. He averaged about 100 yards a season as a receiver. That's like Washington numbers.

Agreed, Bruenner was not a receiving threat but still verry good at what he was asked to do. Still one of the better blocking TE's. Cunningham wasn't too bad either.

And you have to take into account Bruenner played with Kordell, Tomczak, et all.Wasn't like he played with prime Ben. I got my youngest son a Heath jersey when he was little cause that's the kinda player you'd want your kid to be. Quiet, humble,clutch and knock the snot out of the opponents. I had a saying. If Heath or Ward had a bad drop this team is gonna lose.

I’m in this boat as well. Jesse James seemed to do as much and he wasn’t touted as this great TE.

I saw Bruner carry a Raiders defender in from the 8 yard line, 2nd to last game at three rivers.

He was physically one strong player.!!!!

Noll and Cowher, two defensive coaches who weren’t afraid to throw over the middle.
