Been reviewing the state of the team and here is some notables I feel need adjusting.

* Wilson was beat on one of the TDs, while NE has formidable TEs it is clear Wilson is struggling in what should be his strength. I think his reps should be lessened until he can improve against the run and pass.

* Mike should let Austin call the defense. Their collaborated effort is subpar. Their decision making is substandard at best. That game could have easily yielded a defensive turnaround point total if not for turnovers.

* Benton should be benched and moved to DE. That NT experiment should be over.

*DK and Austin should stay on the field. You really should maximize your playmakers reps.

* Herbig should be on the field in passing downs. He is just the speedier option.

* They need to get the rookie RB up to speed. His special teams return demotion shouldn’t dictate his offensive reps. As the team still needs help in that area.

Unless the rookie RB is hurt there is zero reason he only has 2 carries this season.

Especially seeing how the ground game isn’t exactly lighting it up. I don’t subscribe to the theory that a rookie should be shelved on offense just because he is in your doghouse on special teams.

I would like to see 41 with 55. The defense seems to run better with 55 on the field. 6 was even playing better with 55 next to him and not 41. 41 has a lot of upside that we like.

I saw a clip of this play. Wilson is having trouble which I think is he doesn’t carry enough br4ick in the trunk. If he puts more weight on he may slow that proverbial step, hindering his pass coverage.

Sometimes an elevation can’t happen due to both 1/2s being spoiled. I’d have low hopes if you eliminated either 1/2, we both know a replacement is needed (either 1/2).

Yes SIR.!

I agree here as he is faster but also more splash ready.

Open the quote and see rest of response

This is a NO BRAINER, Kaleb needs to be put on the field and given opportunity. Why did we draft him?

Great post slash, appreciate yaz.!

Salute the nation

th 3 TE set isn't working. Even with 2 TEs the O isn't taking advantage of the mismatches

100% agree that Steelers running 1-2 formation need to have Metcalf and Austin both on the field in their base setup. Doing so is common sense since the "loss" consists of downfield blocking by Austin instead of a #3 TE, but that doesn't matter since Steelers RB's are never in the secondary. The gain is having two competent wide receivers on the field along with Smith or Washington, Freiermuth and Warren, giving the team 5 potential receivers on any given play. That approach is so common sense that it defies logic why it would not be done.

So it won't be done.

DK sports has said a couple of times he isn’t getting the job done in practice with pass protection, if that’s the reason he’s not out there I get it.

It’s on the player and the coaches to get him where he needs to be with that

Bench Keanu Benton! He is terrible! He shouldn't be getting a helmet on Gameday! Yayha Black should be starting in his place!

Arthur Smith needs to stop using 3 TE's when they go spread formation....it's just dumb to have 3 slower receivers when the goal of a spread formation is to creation seperation underneath with speed guys! All 3 TE's are not speed guys!

Get Roman Wilson & Calvin Austin more snaps! I know Arthur Smith loves using TE's but that offensive scheme is from the late 1980's and it just doesn't work in today's NFL! It might be time to move on from Arthur Smith! He's better than Matt Canada but he's not good enough!

The times I've seen them go to 3 TE's, they take Metcalf off the field. I could have missed one but the plays I've seen them do this were all complete busts, including down inside the 10 yesterday. In the redzone, Metcalf has to be on the field and he or one of the big TE's should be targeted more.

If it weren't for the turnovers, which are huge, the D really is pretty bad and the O is just awful. They only score off of turnovers but have no rhythm or identity. The O is very boring and not what I think we were hoping for.

I'd be shocked if the Vikings don't blow us out in Ireland.

But I thought Wilson was the best coverage LB on earth?

Kaleb Johnson being basically benched for a special teams blunder is stupid, but not surprising when it comes to Tomlin, he's mishandled so many players over the years, this is almost expected.

Slash, great post! Agree with all you said.
I’m just not feeling this team after playing three teams that are not very good and will not be playoff teams and they struggled against all three. Not good!
You cannot rely on turnovers every week! Sure, you’re going to get them especially against the lower tier teams but don’t count on it against the better teams.
My biggest concern is this OL and their inability to open holes for the running game and to provide protection for their QB. Just not looking good.
The lack of a true #2 receiver is glaring since I think Austin is a #3.
On defense they have to move Benton off of NT and kick him to tackle. This isn’t working!
Play Holcomb at one of the ILBer spots and rotate Wilson and Queen.
Better start protecting the middle of the field.Hunter Henry made them look bad.
Start using Washington more in the passing game. The guy can get open and make plays.
Disappointed in Freirmuth. He’s absolutely nothing special of TE threat. Second contract not looking too good now.

Our first drive was pretty good, but after that it went to hell. The RB/WR usage is awful. Throw Wilson and Johnson in there and see how it goes. It's not like we are lighting it up with the guys we have. Minn is not a bad team, but the Bengals were terrible last week. They had 5 TOs and Minn had 2 defensive scores. Wentz has been terrible since his Philly days. He had a decent game last week, but Cincis defense is also terrible. We certainly could lose the game, but I don't think it will be a blowout. On a side note Minn gets 5 TOs and puts up 48. We get 5 and have to get a last min stop to win.

The oline needs to put their hand on the turf so they can fire off, evn if the QB is in shotgun for first and second down. We need a whole different approach to our oline - this zone blocking scheme sucks!

He is also in the dog house for pass pro. THAT is what is keeping him off the field. If you only put him when running that becomes a really big tell.
