Initial Thoughts on browns game

I’m just perplexed about any disappointment mentioned about this game. Offense had 325+ yards against a top 5 defense (some say no. 1). Sure you always want TDs before FG, but with how the D played stuffing the run, 6 sacks and 12 QB hits!!! It played to the strength of the team. Sure, PQ, Herbig and Thornhill’s not dropping picks would have been nice, but it didn’t impact the final score.

Field was in pretty bad shape for sure. Boz definitely was pissed. I believe one of the broadcasters said it hasn’t rained in quite a while. Have the WPIAA games started yet? It was reported groundscrew started resodding the field 90 minutes after the game ended.

Man do I miss living in north central Ohio after another Steeler win..
Mike Trivasono was awesome sports talk radio on days like these..
Is he still around?
No, Trivasonno died in 2021. Cause of death was never disclosed. Some say it was a heart attack.

I love listening to Tony Rizzo on WKNR vent after a Browns loss to the Steelers, no one can rant like him although he seems to have mellowed out.

The one rant I’ll never forget was a few years ago in late October before a Steelers Browns game when Myles Garrett and a few other Browns players came to the stadium dressed in Halloween costumes, only to lose to the Steelers.

Rizzo at the top of his voice: Did TJ Watt come dressed in a Halloween costume!!!!???!

Great team result today.

The OLine was not a negative factor; tgey seem to be starting to gel.

The running game got good along with the OL.

There were Muth, Smith, Heyward and Wilson sightings, and they each caught a ball.

DK and Ayahuasca A-Ron were very good.

The secondary dropped a few INTs, but didn't get burned.

The DL was stout.

The LBs were great, and Herbig, Watt and Queen all had really good games.

The refs sucked, trying to keep the stains on the game.

Game balls to all the big uglies.

I wonder if Browns will be patient at QB next year considering they drafted at two. Gabriel was ok but missed about 6 or 7 passes it would take. And hes short and mustn't be very mobile. Deion's kid must be hot garbage in practice.

Sanders fits what the NFL wants. He is hype. Not a football player. He is there for clicks, likes, rap videos. The nfl wants to be entertainment, not football. He will get so much hype when he does get to play.

Exactly I always have a hard time mentioning negatives after a convincing win. I save them for more deserved moments.

After games like yesterday I am happy as a lark.

I had two Steelers friends in from NY glad they got to witness the most complete win of the season.

For me it is especially good off a so so week.

I so have that winning appetite, feed me Seymour!

I still say some of the seeming lack of other receivers stepping up is that we have gone back to not throwing over the middle. Doesn't do any good to try to take pressure off of our no. 1 if we don't actually throw to those receivers. This is where I believe Wilson would be most valuable, also Muth. We seldom even throw seem routes let alone slants. We seem to play statistically safer football which translates to winning seasons but not playoff caliber football. Statistically the middle is more dangerous.
You cannot apply this logic to every game plan.

Rodgers and Coach Smith are building something and it changes every week. Subsequently keeping defenses at bay and they have to prepare for EVERYTHING...

I'm not sure why A A Ron isn't looking at Wilson more (I thought he got open twice but was overlooked) - the game was complete in all phases IMO and I see progress every week on both sides and special teams.

On to the Bungals now!!!

The steelers are a good team and getting better. The browns have one of the best defenses in the league and the steelers consistently moved the ball on them.
The offense is still a work in progress but this is the first functional offense since Big Ben left. This game would have been a 9-6 steelers win the least few years.

This OL is getting better. They have some training wheels on now with Spencer Anderson playing as an extra OT and Washington also serving as an extra blocker. As the OL gets better, they should be able to do less of that and get Freiermuth and Jonuu involved as pass catchers.

Arthur Smith is a good OC. Unlike the last few OC's he does have the ability to watch film, put together a gameplan and attack a weakness. He is able to modify his system to fit the talent. He's getting the most out of this group. That's all you can ask of an OC.

The defense is showing signs of being dominant. The DL was in shambles early but now that Harmon is playing, they are keeping the LBs clean to make plays. The secondary is getting healthy.

The main point i tried to get across in my preseason thread where i declared the steelers a contender was that there are ZERO unbeatable teams in the NFL. We can see that clearly now. The Eagles, Chiefs, Ravens, Bills, Lions all have losses and have shown they have flaws.

I don't know if the steelers can go all the way, but they are legit contenders, not because they're great but because nobody else is great either.
Quoting for absolute appreciation...

We played conservative at times...we were going against a rookie QB. In the end we played the clock game. I didn't like it during the game but in hind sight we won by 14. So there is that.
Playing clock is a good thing. Keeps your highly paid defense rested. The past couple of years there were too many 3 and outs. I trust that Rodgers knows when it is time to milk the clock and when it is time to hustle.

14 points (should have been 17 had the field not have way under Boz's plant foot) not enough for yinz???
Not nearly enough. This team has not beaten a good team yet this year IMO.

Grounds crew is supposed to be two words, but ironically the ground did screw Boz. LOL

When Washington plays the Steelers win, make sure that man gets his 40 snaps minimum…by far the best TE for this offense, and it ain’t even close! Shop Muth if ya can and see what the square peg can get ya.

Did Myles play this game? Kudos to Broderick and Co.

Aaron makes solid decisions and takes care of the ball, good fit for a Tomlin clock killing scheme. Had a key under throw but also has excellent ball fake skills.

Herbig is ascending.

Good to see the rookie working his way outta the dog house and getting a few carries. Nice work in general by the entire RB room.

Slay had himself a game as did Ramsey. With Elliot and JPJ back that secondary was starting to show a little potential, aided by a Stains squad that dropped several well placed balls by the rookie QB…the same rookie QB was aided by the Steelers that dropped a few not so well placed balls.

Watt needs to learn to lineup properly.

May have been Thornhill’s best game as a Steeler.

The only thing that can stop Boz is the Steelers ****** field.

Even kudos to Tomlin for being smart enough to load manage the older players late in the game going into a short week. Get the young guys some play and the old guys some rest with game in hand.

Was that Roman Wilson’s best game as a Steeler?

Godspeed to Killibrew, Love that dude.
Still having hard time understanding the TO this team takes.
Just once before I die, I would like to see a well officiated game.
Giving them the same OC...Old Ben > Old Aaron...

Speaking of Washington ... on one running play, he simply overpowered Cleveland DE Cameron Thomas, #99, backwards like he was a folding chair. Absolutely demolished the guy. :ROFLMAO:
